Lou finished his meal, sipping at his water and calculating how much time he had before the Chrysalis opened and what still needed done before that. The answers were respectively quite a bit and not much. He supposed that was a good thing.

((Why do I keep giving my characters coffee addictions? I don't even like coffee...))
Sonya leaned back in the chair, watching the other patrons of the small cafe. He liked the place, it had a relaxing atmosphere, and he did not know most of the people there, so there were no people giving him odd looks or expecting things from him.

Lou's gaze drifted to the large windows at the front of the cafe as he watched people go past on the street. Always in a hurry with little care for those around him. Why had he come back to this place again? Small town life seemed more his pace. Ah well--once Felidae had you it wasn't willing to let you go.

"It's a good city, isn't it?" Sonya asked suddenly, looking out the windows as well.

"I suppose so." Not exactly what he'd been thinking of it, but to each their own.

Sonya shrugged. "Sometimes anyway," he muttered to himself. He could never decide how he felt about Felidae, but considering it was his to protect, he figured he should at least try to love it.

"You grow up around here?"

Sonya nodded. "Yeah. In the "better" part of town." He tried not to put too much scorn into that description, but figured he failed. He shrugged his shoulders, hoping the other would not press him for what he meant.

Lou arched an eyebrow but nodded slightly. "I see. Family's well off then?"

"Da," Sonya said and blinked. "I mean... yes." He was used to only speaking Russian about his family and frowned a little at the obvious slip. "Not St. James Street well off, but fairly close."

Lou's eyebrow arched a bit at the slip of the tongue. "I see."

"You grow up around here?" Sonya asked, figuring he was going to be mortified by the slip of his tongue for the next week or so.

"Felidae born and raised. Which I suppose is one of the reasons I can't bring myself to leave."

Sonya nodded. "Yah, it's hard to leave someplace when you've spent your life there."
