Lou's eyebrows rose, glad he'd thought through his answer to the inital question previously. "Well, congratulations."

"Eh," Sonya said, shrugging. "I just hope I know what I'm doing."

"You seem capable. I suppose it depends on how careful you are when it comes to not crossing the other power structures."

Considering the other for a long moment, Sonya nodded. "Thank you," he said. "Though, I'm fairly sure at least part of the job description is crossing *some* of the other power structures."

"I'm sure it is, but tread lightly when you do. Felidae's a tough town, but I'm sure you know that." Lou glanced around indicating to a waitress that he was ready to order, but not expecting anycat to get to their table for a while yet.

Sonya eyed the waitress, tracking her progress across the room, constant distractions and everything. He played with the napkin a little as he thought. "I almost wish I was just playing in a band," he said, looking down at the colored napkin. "Seems less complicated." Or even that he was still doing the beat walk.

"Nothing simple 'bout running said band. It's like herding cats." The waitress finally reached their tables and took their orders.

Sonya snorted at that, and turned to the waitress to give her his order. When she left he turned back to the other. "They're that bad?"

Sonya laughed again. "Where do you play?"

Lou shrugged. "Wherever we can find a gig."

Sonya raised his brows at that but nodded. He sipped at his coffee, relishing the warmth of it. "And you make enough that way?"

"Yeah, doesn't cost much to live. And what we can't make on gigs we pick up by playing on corners and the like sometimes. People like music no matter when or where."

Sonya nodded. "Music is quite wonderful," he agreed.
