Rising his head, Macavity frowned as he heard a knocking on the front door. Putting the pan down he moved slowly from the kitchen, making sure he could reach the knife he kept in his belt. He glanced around the house, glad that no one else seemed to be around and moving before finally reaching the door.
Jerking it open he was about to demand something angry before the words froze in his throat.

Coricopat Zimmerman stood there, looking up at the cat he hadn't seen in nearly six years. Not since he had left Felidae behind for law school and the hell that happened there. His ears flickered slightly at the expression on the other tom's face, "Hello, Macavity."

For a long moment the ginger tabby didn't respond before slamming the door shut hard enough to almost shake the house.

The mottled tom closed his eyes drawing a deep breath before knocking again. That was a better reaction than he'd been expecting honestly.

Macavity kicked the door before he gave in and opened it again. "You want somethin'?" he demanded, voice harsh.

"I want to talk. To apologize. I know I didn't write, I-I'm sorry," He slid his foot into the doorframe, knowing that if the other slammed it as hard as he had before he risked getting it broken, but he needed to talk to Mac.

"Didn't write is puttin' things a little lightly," Macavity growled. "Didn't write, didn't come back. You might as well have been dead for the last six years for all you cared ta let me know. Move your damn paw."

Coricopat drew a deep breath, but didn't move his paw, "I'm sorry, Mac. I...there's really nothing else I can say. I got caught up in things and didn't have the chance to come home."

"Caught up in things?" he snapped. "What? A postcard at Christmas ta much for a college student?"

"I'm sorry, Mac. Cat knows if I could change everything except the curriculum of the last six years I would, but I can't!"

"Well, that's sweet, Cor, but maybe you should have thought of all of that before doin' it. I'm not entirely sure what the hell you want from me now," was the almost eerily calm response.

Coricopat's ears lay back at that, "Macavity...I want to know how I can even begin to rebuild any sort of bridge between us."

"Cry me a damn river first."

"I'll bend over backward for you, but I'm fresh out of tears for this year," Coricopat answered, his tone trending toward bitter.

"Someone else make you cry first? Remind me ta send them flowers," Macavity snapped.
