"Couldn't be tied to just one cat myself," Tugger admitted, "but hey, if it makes you happy...."

"Never thought I could either, but" She shrugged. "To each their own."

"Well I guess these things take time and a reason to change your mind," Tugger suggested, leaning on the mop handle again, "mebbe I've not found my reason yet."

She turned fromher work to look at him speculatively for a moment. "Perhaps. Don't rule out the possibility of it happening though. You may surprise yourself yet."

"Well that would be a first," Tugger admitted, "though I guess I've kinda surprised myself today, I'll surprise 'Straps at any rate."

"'Straps'?" She arched an eyebrow slightly as she moved to the other window.

"My older brother, the one who ran off to college and got the good job, then there's me, the lazy good-for-nothing youngest sibling." Tugger was partly joking as he spoke, but there was bitterness mixed in with the mirth.

Tugger nodded, "Maybe, though he'll probably tell me I should've got something more permernant. Also, I take it everything that goes on here isn't stricly above board? He told me not to get involved with any illegal stuff coz I'm doin' enough of that already."
Maybe it was foolish to say a lot of that, but you didn't tend to find bars in places that didn't sell alcohol, and Tugger figured if Griddlebone was doing something illegal herself, she wasn't likely to dob him in for doing the same.

"This? You're cleaning for a business, that's all you know. Isn't like you're serving drinks somewhere or something." She replied, a twinkle in her green eyes.

Tugger winked at Griddlebone, "Got it, Milady." he said shortly, grinning as he borrowed Mungo's nickname for her.

She laughed. "You learn fast. Do you mind me asking what you're trying to find a cover for?"

Tugger shrugged, "Can't hurt I guess. Bootlegging, for the most part." he chuckled, "In this day and age, what else?"
