Tugger picked up his sandwhich and started eating, figuring there was no point leaving it any longer if he was planning on sticking around.
At least she wasn't asking him to do anything compliacted. Okay so there wasn't a huge amount in the way of housework that went on back at home, but what little there was was technically Tugger's responsibility given Munkustrap was out all day. On the occasions he didn't shirk it, he managed it adequately enough.
Swallowing a bite of sandwhich, Tugger nodded again at the queen before him, "Sounds pretty straightforward. Just say what you want me to do." a pause before he added, "This sandwhich ain't half bad either," he offered her another smile, "You're a Lady of many talents I can see."

"Well, there's a mop and bucket waiting out front to be used on the floors. I'll get started on the windows and tables if you start with that." She took a bite of her own sandwich, swallowing before replying to the last bit. "Thank you, comes from several years of doing what needs to be done."

Tugger eyed the mop and bucket for a moment, "Sure," he agreed, "no problem."
Griddlebone didn't ask questions, he liked that, oddly, it made him want to know more about her. Though perhaps that was just because she was offering as little about herself as she was asking about him.
"So," he hazarded, "Beautiful gal like you, place like this?"

She shrugged slightly. "Someone's gotta run the place while the owner's gone." The queen replied as she steadily finished her sandwich. Looking him over she spoke again. "You're not from this side of town, are you?"

"I see." Tugger replied quickly though he wasn't sure he did, but clearly she didn't want questions. Though interesting it had prompted her to ask questions in return, "Not exactly," he agreed, and for the first time it occured to him to wonder what 'part of town' did he fit in with.

"Didn't think so. Most cats around here know I've lived here my whole life, in one capacity or another." Information for information was a rule of thumb with this queen. She set her, now empty, plate aside, brushing any remaining crumbs off of her blouse and fur. "So where are you from?"

Tugger frowned, "That's a good question, as soon as I've worked out the answer to it, you'll be the first to know."

Griddlebone arched an eyebrow at that, chuckling. "Well said. So what brings you down this side of town, today?"

Tugger grinned, glad she had been satisfied with his answer. "Now that one's pretty simple," he added, in response to her question, "I need to find some work."

"But to come all the way down to the docks, and not just check downtown?" SHe offered him a smile as she sought out a rag and a small bucket for some soapy water for the windows and tables. "Work must be pretty tight in the upper districts."

Tugger shrugged, silent for a long time "I'll level with you," he said finally, "I flunked out of most of school, and don't exactly have much experience, most uptown jobs I'm not skilled for. Besides, here I got Mungo, which is better than looking downtown on my own, I wouldn't have a clue where to start."

She nodded slightly in understanding. "Hey, at least you've got schooling. It's more'n can be said about most of the cats down here, myself included."

Tugger snorted, "Education's over-rated. The only time I enjoyed school was when I wasn't there."

She shrugged. "You had the option though." She filled up the small pail she'd found with soapy water. "Anyhow, best to get started."

Tugger swallowed the last bite of his sandwhich, handing the plate back to Griddlebone, he didn't say much in response to her last comment, just stood and headed over to pick up the mop.
