Sonya entered the cafe, taking a quick glance around to make sure there were no queens with torbie markings before settling into a corner table and ordering coffee. Yes, he was still being childish. It had been almost two weeks, and he was taking an extended tour of Felidae's coffee shops that weren't called The Walnut. Eventually, he figured, sighing and leaning back in the almost too small chair, he would have to go there, and talk to her again. At least figure out what had been going on, and if he was over reacting. But the entire situation was foolish. He was how much older than her? He had time with his job for something like a relationship? Did he really think it would turn out any better than last time?
At any rate, he was still acting rather childish over the whole issue, and between that and the amount of murders in this town...
He just wanted a damn, uncomplicated cup of coffee.

Lou stepped inside out of the wintry chill. He was working at all hours over the last few days and this particular cafe was closer than the little one on Main. He scanned the room, a smile twitching at his lips as he spotted the police commissioner. The brown tabby strolled over. "Hello there. Mind if I join you?"

Sonya had been brooding at the napkin, and so had not seen the other enter, but he looked up when he saw somecat's shadow moving over the table. His face broke out into a grin at the sight of the other, and he spread a paw over the table. "Please, do so."

Lou settled in the chair opposite. "How have you been?"

The other cat blinked, and shook his head slightly, all his complaints from moments ago returning in force. "I am commissioner of Felidae. That should answer at least three fourths of that question right there." He sighed. "And yourself?"

Lou's brow rose at that. "I'm doing...well enough. And what about that last fourth?"

Another sigh and he shrugged. "The last fourth is doing about as badly as the other three. But for different reasons at least."

Lou caught the waitress' eye, nodding to let her know he at least was ready whenever she got the chance, before turning back to Sonya. "Do you wish to talk about it, or shall I leave it be?"

Sonya smiled faintly. "Get some coffee in me and ask again."

Lou chuckled. "Fair enough." He looked up as the waitress approached to take their orders. "I'll have a coffee for now, please, miss."

Sonya ordered his own coffee, considering he might do well to eat something as well, but maybe after that first cup.

Lou leaned back in his chair. "How were your holidays?"

Sonya let out a long breath. "The same as usual, I guess," he said finally, ears almost going flat. "Nothing much for Christmas, and invited to a party I did not much care for at New Years. Yours?"

"Actually not too much different from yours from the sound of it. Very little on Christmas--church service, but otherwise nothing--and escorted a good friend of mine to a New Year's party."

Sonya nodded, considering. "Was it at least a good church service?" he asked finally. He did not much want to admit he had spent his own holiday locked away in his flat, mourning more than anything else.
