Macavity adjusted his tie again, glancing around the ballroom. Everything seemed ready, and the guests were going to be arriving soon. He gave everything another critical glance over, smoothing down his jacket. He strolled over to the top of the stairs, glancing around at the cats on security. Hm...

Taradan was positioned at the top of the stairs for the time being, from there he had a good view of the entrance hall as well as the ballroom doorway. Security for the event was fairly low-key, because there were cats attending it was best not to provoke by having too many heavies on view. Taradan had stationed two cats downstairs and would be joining the third on the ballroom doors as soon as the guests started to arrive.
He was looking considerbly smarter than when useually working, in his best suit, and he was even wearing a tie for the occasion. Looking over the balustrade towards the entance hall, his ear flicked as he heard pawsteps behind him. Turning enough to see Macavity, Taradan nodded respectfully in aknowledgement, but said nothing.

Mac came to a stop at the top of the staircase, looking the main reception hall over, noticing Smith at his usual post and almost rolling his eyes. After a moment, satisfied, he turned to the other cat standing there. "Security right? Which one are you?"

Taradan was momentairly taken aback, not really expecting to be addressed, but he nodded in response, "Logan, sir." feeling the need to say something else, he added, "There's four of us on duty tonight, but more around should we need 'em."

Taradan nodded again, not all too sure he liked the way the boss had said that. "That'd be me." he agreed though somewhat warily.

Mac considered him for a moment. "So, gettin' anythin' from that brother of yours then?"

For a second Taradan was alarmed at that, but he reminded himself that if Zimmerman knew of course it was likely the boss did as well. "Nothin' yet," he admitted, swalowing slightly as he did so, "but I only discussed it with 'im a few days ago. He's agreed t'do it though, an' he's a smart kit, I think he'll come up with the goods, given time."
He sounded more confident than he felt, but short of lying and inventing some news from Ricky, which would only spell trouble in the long run, there wasn't much else he could say. Besides, Ricky was a smart kit, if Taradan hadn't been so worried about the kid's safety, he'd give his little brother a lot more credit.

"Things like that take time," Mac said, glancing around again. "Just don't be ta lon' and it shouldn't be a problem. How's the security lookin'?"

Taradan nodded, "He said he might have somethin' worth knowin' in the next couple'a days." his own gaze flicked back down to the entrance hall, "It should be fine, you've got two downstairs an' me an' Jefferson up here. We' got copies o'the guest list, so no one gets in without an invitation, unless yourself or Mr Zimmerman approves it. An' as I said, we got a few more on hand if anythin' kicks off. Thought it was better t'keep visible security low-key though, considerin' some of the names comin'."

Mac nodded. "Good, good. Several of those names will probably be comin' with bodyguards, so keep an eye out for those."

Mac laughed at that. "Oh, most likely. You don't have ta let the bodyguards into the ballroom if they have a plus one already, but don't kick them out. Try and make friendly," he said with a grin.

Taradan couldn't help but chuckle at that, he felt far more at ease now than he would have done talking to Zimmerman, despite the different status. "In the int'rest of things not kickin' off I think we'll do our best t'play nice. If someone's gonna' start trouble, I'd rather if was them."
