Genghis shrugged off the first comment, "It makes a change from the usual breed of simpering, more-money-than-sense idiot." he glanced around the room again, "Though then again, he's clearly not above overspending."
For a second, he followed Clara's gaze, "That might be entirely possible." was all he said on the matter, "And as for you, did I say that?"

"Overspending?" she laughed faintly. "That would be putting it lightly. And, no, sorry, it wasn't you, it was Harrold." That moron. "He seemed to think I was being far too friendly with the toms at the event. I shall try to be more sociable tonight though," she continued, a smile fluttering around her expression.

"I presume Hollister has his reasons. I recall hearing something about employees being invited as well. So presumably it's not only the notorious and the cream of society here tonight." Genghis observed, "I don't know how long I intend on staying," he added, "but perhaps it is better to play things by ear for the time being."

"I wouldn't dream of that, of course." Genghis' tone contained just a hint of sarcasm. Though actually, he didn't want to offend Hollister just yet, he was interested to find out more. "I'm going to make the rounds of the crowd then," he told Clara, "there are probably a few individuals here I own some nuance of social nicity to. Join me if you like or take some time to look around, it's all the same to me."
