"Somethin' like that," Tugger admitted, though a little gruffly, "had breakfast early."

Mac took another bite, realizing how that might have come across to his brother. "Well, a good Christmas lunch is always good. Just 'lad you liked it."

Tugger nodded, "It wasn't bad for uh... whatever it was." he agreed, "Y'don't get bored of fancy food then?" he asked after a moment, a genuine question. He supposed because the Macavity he remembered living at home had been the one to cook most of his meals.

"It's harder ta 'et bored of fancy food than it is ta 'et bored of simpler stuff," Mac replied, finishing what he was going to eat of the meal. "And I have a kitchen in the penthouse, so I can cook when I feel like it." Which he often didn't anymore, unless he was feeling particularly stressed.

"I guess you're right." especially after a lifetime of cooking from whatever little they could afford, though the cupboards had still tended to be better stocked when Macavity was still partly responsible for it. Munkustrap was more thrifty and aparrently had less time to get groceries, and Tugger didn't buy them because Munkustrap looked after the housekeeping money.

Mac nodded, pushing his plate a little to the side. "There's dessert ta, if you want," he said mildly.

Now dessert was something Tugger very seldom got, so he was sorely tempted, but didn't want to admit it, "Are you havin' it?" he asked finally.

Usually Mac passed on dessert, but eying Tugger he shrugged. "Probably. They have some excellent cakes, among other things," he motioned for a waiter to bring the dessert menu. "Might as well live it up for Christmas, hm?"

Tugger nodded, taking the menu from the waiter with interest, "I guess we might as well." he agreed, able to keep his pride in tact this time.

Mac smiled faintly at that, and with a good deal more affection than he had any plans to admit to. "We might as well indeed," he said, glancing over the menu upside down, though he already knew it by heart, especially after insisting milkshakes be on it, much to the bafflement of some of the more high class cooks.

"At least I know what most of these are," Tugger laughed, "but still, anythin' you'd reccomend this time round?" he valued Macavity's opinion more than he cared to confess to.

"There's a particular chocolate cake, the third one I think," Mac replied. "Should try that one."

Tugger scanned the list before nodding decisively, "Looks good. That one it is."

Mac nodded with a grin, signaling the waiter back over, ordering the cake and a milkshake for himself, as usual. He still got a slightly askew look over it, but the waiter nodded and departed.

Tugger arched an eyebrow at his brother, "Did y'just order a milkshake?"
