Tugger shrugged again, "Y'wanted me there." he tried to make it sound offhand, but there was a pause before he added, " 'An so does Munk."

Mac rose a brow. "Huh. He said he has a gal now, when he stopped by yesterday for much the same reason you did, ta inform me the gift was ta much."

Tugger was silent for a moment, processing what he'd just been told.
"Well I'm glad you an' he are speakin'," he said finally, "but a gal, that's news t'me. I wonder if that was who he's gone t'see today?"

"It could be." He paused. "You know, 'Straps and I don't have any problems with each other, we've just never been ta fond of each other either. So, we talk. We just don't ever go out of our way..." he shrugged. "Anyway, the gal was news ta me ta until yesterday."

"I know." Tugger sounded a little indignant, actually this was the first time Macavity had explained the situation about him and Munkustrap seriously to Tugger and he'd never really spoken to Munkustrap about it either, but something childish in him liked to pretend he had worked it out.
"What is it with you an' him both suddenly havin' gals? Is he bringin' her to your ball?"

Mac managed not to wince at the reminder of Griddlebone. He hadn't heard from her at all yet, and was hoping that she would come to the ball. "He asked if he could, but looked pretty nervous about the idea, so not sure. Would be interestin' ta meet her though."

Another shrug, "I'm ain't fussed, might wait and see when he actually decides t'tell me." a pause, "Mebbe' I'll find someone f'me at your ball." he added, grinning suddenly.
