"Like I said, I know it would make Mac happy," Tugger agreed, "he even offered t'loan me somethin' t'wear if..." Tugger trailed off, frowning at Munkustrap, "The bank?" Anything regarding the bank was useually bad news, yet Munkustrap didn't look that concerned.

[Meadowlark]

Munkus took a sip of his coffee before responding. "He paid off the mortgage as a Christmas present."

[amanika]

Tugger's frown deepened, "Who, the bank manager?"

[Meadowlark]

"No. Macavity." The silver tabby replied.

[amanika]

There was a splutter whilst Tugger nearly choked on a mouthful of coffee, as he recovered, his expression darkened a little. "Mac did what?"

[Meadowlark]

"He paid off the mortgage." Munkus looked at his younger brother, frowning at his expression.

[amanika]

"Why?" Tugger wasn't entirely sure how he felt about this.

[Meadowlark]

"Because he wanted to help." Munkus answered simply.

[amanika]

Tugger shifted in his seat, something about that made him unconfortable, "Jus' how much money is that?"

[Meadowlark]

Munkus bit his lower lip. "A lot."

[amanika]

Tugger's tone was somewhat accusatory, "An' you're alright with this?

[Meadowlark]

Munkustrap's eyes narrowed. "Well, what was I supposed to say, Tugger? He'd paid it before I got there. Was I supposed to go tell him 'thanks, but we'd rather you take back the money and let us eke by on what we've got'?"

[amanika]

Tugger squirmed a bit, "Y'don't hafta' like it though." he muttered finally, "Jus' makes me uneasy is all."

[Meadowlark]

"If he expected something in return I'd be more concerned. I'm not saying I like it, but it certainly does help."

[amanika]

Tugger folded his arms, "Think I'd be more comfortable if he did want somethin' in return."
