For a moment Alonzo looked more serious before he shrugged it off. "Well, the hope certainly is that she won't kill you, ever."

Alonzo looked like he couldn't decide which part of the sentence bothered him more. "Well, honey," he said the word slowly, willing to brush it off as a joke. "Then I suppose you should just try to put that off as long as possible."

The torbie relaxed ever so slightly at the opportunity to pass the slip off as something else, "Well, that's what we all do every day. My goal's t' see a nice old age b'fore he catches me up."
