Noticing the other tom looking, Alonzo hesitated, giving a small wave before shrinking back against the stage again, sure he had over stepped some boundary.

Jerrie hesitated before making his way over, "Hey there."

"H-hey," Alonzo said, smoothing his tail fur down again, holding it in his paws. "You seemed to be enjoying dancing."

The torbie shrugged, grinning slightly, "I always enjoy dancin'."

"It must be nice," Alonzo said with a smile.

"I take it y' don' dance then," the Southern tom remarked, gaze moving back to the dance floor, his tail tapping along with the rhythm of the current number.

"I, um, play," Alonzo said. "Also, have a habit of running into cats enough I'm not sure they'd appreciate dancin'."

"Y' don't play all th' time. But, if y' really think a queen'd have problems with y' dancin' with her, I guess I c'n see not steppin' out on th' floor."

"Well, and there's always, why dance with the fiddle player when there's," he paused and gestured toward Jerrie instead of finishing.

Jerrie blinked at him for a long moment, "Y' kiddin' right? I ain't nothin' to write home 'bout. Sure I c'n dance, but ain't much more'n that."

For a long moment Alonzo just blinked at him, tip of his tail twitching. "Uh-huh," he managed. "Still never underestimate the ability to dance well in wooing."

Jerrie's brows shot up and he managed not to laugh at that, "I can say from my best friend's experience that that really ain't all that true. Y'll also notice, I dance, but I ain't here with anycat. So obviously it ain't that big a role."

Alonzo hummed rather than disagree with the other tom. "But at least you're dancing."

The torbie shrugged, "Mebbe so. You do much besides play th' fiddle? Seems I've only seen y' here or walkin' down by th' docks."

For a moment Alonzo looked confused, like he wasn't sure how many details Jerrie wanted. "I, um, I help cats write letters? I play cards and read books when I can afford it. I spin yarn for sale too," he added, still unsure if the other was asking for something in particular. He had his mother's small spinning wheel jammed into his apartment, having moved it with him through sheer determination.
