Maggie shook her head. "Nope, born in the South and then moved to Chicago to live with my grandparents when I was very young. Then my uncles took me abroad for secondary school."

"Abroad?" Electra asked, perking slightly at that. "Where, if I may ask?"

Maggie's smile grew soft and her sight seemed to turn inwards, her voice gentle and reverent. "Paris. My uncles had some old friends who needed some cooks and they managed to secure a place for me at the local school. Some of the happiest times of my life happened in Paris." She shook herself and giggled whimsically. "Mind you, it wasn't a bed of roses either. We worked hard, but we played harder."

Electra grinned watching her expression shift. "Paris sounds lovely. I always would like to travel abroad somewhere like that."

Maggie's smile grew wide again. "I'm sure you would like it, I certainly. I often went other places with friends when I had a holiday, and I must say I really enjoyed Germany."

"Germany?" Electra said softly, picking up an item and putting it in the basket. "That must have been an interesting place to go."

Maggie sighed wistfully. "Ah yes, Germany, especially Berlin with all its lovely shops and cafes. My friends and I would sometimes sneak into a cabaret to see a show. Never got caught, either."

Electra let out an almost shocked laugh at that. "Well, not getting caught is good. Sadly, I'm not sure our shows here are quite as risqué, though I know we have some great jazz bands. Do you like dancing?"

"Jazz and dancing? Count me in."

"Oh really?" Electra asked with a laugh. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind. There's a good speakeasy that I tend to go to, when there's time."

"A speak, huh? Haven't been to one in months..."

Electra grinned. "Well, if you have a free night, you should stop by. There's one I tend to like to go to, it has good music and a nice dance floor to it."

Maggie returned the grin. "Any special passwords or handshakes I should know?"

Electra winked at her. "Don't worry, I'll get you in. They change their password pretty often, but once you're a regular you're good. Really, so long as you know someone else, it's not a hard place to get into. But, I could always teach you the handshake if you're dying to know it."

Maggie laughed. "Maybe if I want to bring a friend, but for now I'll let you lead the way. What's the speak called, out of curiosity?"
