Bombi smiled somewhat, shaking her head. "Sorry to waste you a favour then, kit."

Tugger raised an eyebrow at the endearment, or was it a put down? She couldn't be that much older than he was.
"Ain't no problem. An' mebbe better than helpin' out a stranger."

Bombalurina noted his raised brow, turning away when she had momentarily realised the endearment had slipped out - force of habit, particularly with the opposite gender, or at least, those she considered friends. "Better?" Her own brow raised slightly at that, ear flickering indecipherably as she tried to pinpoint the tone of his statement. Better perhaps, for more personal reasons? Or simply because her place was bad, but perhaps not as bad as others had worked on?

"Dunno, I guess I just prefer t'know someone first." Tugger replied unhelpfully, in truth, he wasn't sure what he'd meant. But it wasn't an unpleasant surprise to see her again, despite his mixed reaction to their conversation at the ball.

Bombalurina noted his hesitation, unsure of what to think of go on - cat, even in general conversation with a tom, she just seemed to be unlucky. She always said the wrong thing, or made a comment that went the wrong way. Steadying herself some, she glanced up toward the toml; he wasn't altogether a chore to get on with, and he certainly wasn't hard on the eye. She supposed some part of her appreciated the sight of him standing in her albeit grim home, just simply nice enough to offer his assistance to her. "Well...thanks anyway." She commented, slightly husky from the prolonged pause in conversation, green eyes kept on the water-damaged boards before him instead of wandering over his broad form, as she could tell her irises wanted to.

Tugger nodded, "It ain't no trouble anyway. Makes f'varyin' my week a little." He offered a slight grin, not entirely oblivious to the effect he was having on her, it wasn't the first time, he had that going for him at least. He leant back a little against the couch he should have been shifting.

"Well, I suppose it would." She smiled somewhat good naturedly, lifting her gaze and noting his lean on the couch with an almost amused brow line, "Just hope it doesn't give you as much trouble as it has me."

Tugger shrugged, "I'll let Jerrie worry about that, he's the one with the eye f'this stuff."

Bombalurina nodded, her ears tilted softly, whiskers twitching; pleased enough the problem at hand seemed at least en route to a solution. "So, have you done much of this sort of thing before?" She cocked her head, shapely figure leaning casually against the frame of the hallway.

Her posture wasn't lost on Tugger, the look he gave her was slightly appreciative, suggesting he approved of what he saw, though without being lewd. "Not so much," he admitted, "but I trust Jerrie t'make sure I'm doin' things right." he grinned at her, "Everyone's gotta start somewhere. An if it's as bad as you make out, I can hardly do anythin' t'make it worse now can I?"

Bombalurina laughed gently at that, shaking her head some. "I suppose you couldn't, though I'm sure I haven't done it any favours leaving it this long..."

Tugger shook his head, "It oughtn't t'be your responsibility anyway, if your bleedin' landlord was halfway decent, he shoulda' got it seen to."

Bombalurina nodded, though she rolled her eyes gently in agreeance. "Unfortunately he's more....toad, than descent." The red queen shook out her almost Persian-eqsue tail, as if trying to brush off the thought of yet another loathesome tom in her life. "I'd fine it easy enough to ignore him then bother bringing it up to him..." She sighed in some exasperation.

Tugger nodded, "Yeah, know a few too many cats like that in this town.((Think maybe I'm just killing time til Jerrie comes back now. ))

((Just waiting for his cue )) Jerrie managed to get the door open and entered, carrying a stepladder and a prybar to start work on the ceiling. He'd need to get the piping he'd picked up later, but for now this would work. He glanced between the two. "Tug, I need t' put the ladder where that couch is..."
