She very gently took it, turning it over a couple times, considering it. "You have quite the eye for these things," she said finally. "It should be quite lovely when finished," she said, handing it back to him.

He offered a bit of a smile at that, returning the carving to his pocket. "Thanks." He glanced around. "Say, you interested in a cuppa coffee, it's a bit cold out."

Clara blinked rapidly at him for a moment before shrugging. "It wouldn't go amiss," she said finally.

Jer finally processed what he'd said, realizing there wasn't any way to justify it. But it was damn cold. Days like this he wondered if leaving Atlanta had been such a good plan. He offered another brief smile, nodding down up the street. "Decent little cafe up about a block."

He glanced at her before starting up the street, leaving it up to her to come or not, knowing how odd it was to have asked in the first place.

She remained where she was for a moment before shrugging and following. She had been bored after all, and it gave her something to do.

She shook her head. "No. Though, my accent hardly gives that away." She paused, but the carving had put her in a reflective mood. "I was raised in Europe."

She couldn't decide if she minded or not, and settled for shrugging and finally answering with, "After the war, I wasn't so enamored with the place anymore."
