Mac was whistling some kind of carol to himself, sitting in the lower office, dressed remarkably down for the holiday but not really expecting any business that day. He was putting some finishing touches on the last orders for the ball, and would later go out and give the decorations another eye. Hearing the sound of footsteps, he stopped whistling long enough to inform the other to come in, and considered just leaving the door open for the day, a gift to his henches--not putting them on edge every time they needed to talk to him. Maybe just one day.

Coricopat entered, one eyebrow arching. "You seem dreadfully cheery today."

"It's Christmas," Mac said, spreading his paws out, as if that explained everything.

"...And?" Cori shook his head slightly.

"You must have been the most depressin' child Christmas morn," Mac informed him dryly. "Cheer up once a year would you?"

"Actually I didn't mind the insanity of it as a child...normally. Besides, one day a year is not remarkable enough to cause me to cheer that much." Coricopat retorted.

Mac gave him a look and shook his head. "Oh come now, special occasions and all that? And how dare you call Christmas insane."

"Perhaps the holiday isn't, but many cats become such on this particular day of the year." Cori replied evenly.

Arching a brow, Mac smirked, letting the comment slide. "So, how do you like your new lamp then? Most borin' gift I gave this year I think."

"It's nice, thank you. I'm quite content with the most boring gift then."

"You and bein' borin'," Mac said, leaning against the front of the desk with his legs crossed at the ankle. "You know, when one of these days somethin' shocks you, you're goin' ta be so out of practice bein' surprised, you're not goin' ta know what ta do."

"Hence the reason I hate surprises. I tried something out of the ordinary once and it did a number on me. Thanks but no thanks." Coricopat frowned at the tabby.

Mac paused at that reference, shaking his head. "You have ta recover sometime, Cor."

"I am. I just have no desire to have it happen again." He replied impassively.

Mac gave him a long look and shook his head. "Well, you'll figure it out."
