Cor studied his long-time friend and then nodded slightly. "Of course."

Mac was about to say something more when a bang happened and the door was thrown up.
"What the hell was that on my desk?" Martin demanded, stalking in, though with an armful of paperwork.
Mac paused and blinked. "Your Christmas present?"
"Why?"
"... Because it's Christmas."

Coricopat looked at the new arrival, one eyebrow rising before he looked at Mac. "You found something to give to him? How?"

"Because I have good taste," Mac drawled to Cori.
Martin opened his mouth and snapped it shut, growling slightly. It had been in good taste. Damnit. "Here's your paperwork," he snapped, dropping in on the desk. "Now if you don't mind, I have work to do."
Mac eyed the paperwork from where he was still leaning against the desk. "Well then," he drawled. "You could at least say thank you."

The lawyer bit his lip, hard, to conceal a smile at that. Oh Mac was in a good mood today.

Martin ground his teeth, forcing out, "Thank you."
Mac smiled benevolently at him. "You're more welcome."
Martin grimaced at him again and stalked out of the room slamming the door shut.
((Exit Martin))
"Oi!" Mac called. "Leave the blasted door open!"

Coricopat chuckled at that. "I'm still astonished you found anything for the Brit from Hell. He's such a...cold bastard? No, that's not the term I'm looking for." The mottled tom shook his head, finally rising. "Well, I should go see to the last of the preparations I'm handling today."

Mac considered making a pot and a kettle statement in regards to Cor of all people calling Martin a cold bastard, but decided against it. He really was feeling magnanimous. He chuckled, shaking his head. "He actually wasn't too hard: just a nice leather bound planner, though perhaps I'll regret givin' him somethin' ta plot with." He paused for a second, not moving much. "Well, enjoy your day then, and try, try ta actually smile at least once, and not at someone's else's expense."

Cor managed a bit of a smirk at that. "I shall try." He headed over to the door, exiting, leaving the door open.
((Exit Coricopat))

Mac waved a lazy paw after him, starting to whistle again as he went around the desk, riffling through the paperwork Martin had left for him, leaving the door open.

Tantomile had spent a quiet but supposedly sophisticated Christmas morning in her apartment, but tiring quickly of her own company, had decided to head over to the Demoniaque. She had some reports on Macavity's murder witness to pass on to him anyway; it was as good an excuse as any.
However, less than ten minutes after arriving at the hotel, Tantomile was already regretting her decision to come there, she'd almost run into her brother, coming in the opposite direction. Still burning from their last conversation, she'd been able to manage anything towards him other than a frosty glare, and it was with an ugly scowl on her face she stalked into Macavity's office, taking the open door as an invitation not to knock for once.

Mac was still whistling by that point, though he stopped when he glanced up after hearing footsteps, and sure enough someone came around the corner and into his office. "Ah, Tantomile. And how are you this Christmas?"

Tantomile made some effort to remove the scowl from her features, though her expression became serious rather than cheerful, a smile might just crack her face right now. "Don't ask, you don't want to hear the answer. I've got some reports on that murder witness for you to look over when you've got the time. Everything's going well, I just need your approval on the next steps."

"What is with you people?" Mac asked. "It's Christmas, be cheerful. You and your brother... I promise it won't hurt you ta be cheerful one day out of the damn year. As for those reports," he added, holding out a paw for them. "Glad ta know it's goin' well."

Tantomile arched an eyebrow at Macavity "I think our perspectives are perhaps rather different. Anyway, I'm fine. I can just do without my dear brother souring my day with his presence."
She took the files from her briefcase and handed them over. "We were right in thinking he had reasons for not wanting to co-operate with the police. Now I've got that out of the way with him, whilst it would be beneficial to find out just what he did see, it's not essential." She nodded to the file, "There should be enough there to blackmail him. So if you'd like me to withdraw at this point, I can."
