He looked down at her paw holding his own and shrugged slightly. "It was a long time ago. I grew up." He offered her a smile. "But thank you anyway." He turned his own paw over before he could think about it, so rather than her paw just resting on the back of his, their palms were touching.

Teazer felt her face flush at this, though she didn't take her hand away. "I hope you ain't so lonely these days."

He blinked at their paws for a moment at that, his brain shutting off completely for a bit. Her cheer was reminding him just how lonely he was especially after George was shot two years ago and now he could barely look at the man's family without feeling like he had been punched in the gut and it was not fair to any of them. "I..." he glanced up to her face. How did they end up talking about this. "I should go," he said, voice small.

Teazer pulled her paw back rather sharply at that, worried that she'd over-stepped the mark. "I'm sorry, I don't know what... I'm sorry, You stay where you are, I should get goin' anyway, promised Jer I'd have dinner ready." she got to her feet, face flushing scarlet.

"No, no," he said rising too quickly as well. "That is not what I... I have more work to do, I was just stopping by for lunch and to thank you, it was nothing that you did. I just really should be getting back soon..."

"Don't leave on my account," Teazer was still blushing furiously as she collected up her apron. "I guess if you've got ta'." she looked at her feet, suddenly becoming very focused on a ladder that was starting in her stocking. "I'm sorry."

He shook his head quickly. "No, you have nothing to be sorry for. I just have work," he picked up his hat, motioning the other waitress for the bill, feeling a bit jittery in his skin. "I was very glad to see you again today."

"I shouldn't've imposed though." Teazer said quickly, "I'd best be going."
She hurried back towards the kitchen to collect her bag and coat from the back room, still feeling the glow of her cheeks.

Sonya sighed, rubbing a paw over his face as the bill was brought over and he almost listlessly dug out the money to pay for it. It had hardly been Teazer's fault after all. He just ignored the fact he was lonely so much that he sometimes forgot he was. But she... she seemed bright and happy and it only made him feel more lonely. Maybe this was a bad idea.
Turning, he left, heading back to the station. He only hoped nothing requiring too much of his attention would come up.
