This day was certianly full of useful bits of information. "Alright, well keep me updated on that." He glanced at the cards in the other cat's paw. "How is your magic going?"

Misto shrugged. "It's about the same as always. Still disapproved of by my uncle, still fun to do, and still something that brings in some money." He glanced over at the other. "Any important cases coming up?"

"Not really. There's one regarding a thief who claims he worked for a large syndicate, but there's no evidence to support that, so whatever the jury gives him he'll get." The evidence had been effectively buried and if he had anything to say about it so would be that informant.

Tilting his head, Misto considered. He knew next to nothing about the other cat, and yet he kept seeing the other, talking to him, and taking jobs from him. "So, what do you do for fun anyway?"

Coricopat arched an eyebrow. "Fun?"

Misto rolled his eyes a little. "Yeah, stuff people do when they have time off, or just want to relax. I've never heard you talk about anything other than work and more work. But seriously what do you do when you're not doing that? There has to be something you find enjoyable."

"I don't have time outside of work. But a good book is a preference." Coricopat replied evenly.

"Really?" Misto leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his head turned toward the other. "What kinds of books?"

"Hardy mostly, though an occasional Hawthorne." Coricopat leaned back slightly on the bench, his gaze sweeping over the street for signs of things that might be of use later.

"Hardy? As in Thomas Hardy?" Misto considered him. "Actually, that makes sense, yeah. I enjoyed his Jude the Obscure when I read it, though less so when I started sympathizing with the character, not going to university myself."

"Yes, as in Thomas Hardy." He looked at Misto for a moment, "Something tells me you had the option though." Especially considering who his uncle was.

"Nope. That would have required my uncle to do more for me than glare at me in passing, so it was off the table."

Hm, no love lost between those two then. Apparently of less use than he initially thought. "Ah, I see. Well, what's done is done then, hm?"

"Yeah, it's not that bad or anything. It just meant I liked a book a little less." Which was a flat out lie, but the other did not need to know that.

One eyebrow arched at that, but he said nothing on that subject. "I suppose I can see how that would happen. And you? What do you do for... fun?" Cat, idle conversation. Ah, well, it worked for developing trust--an essential to have with an informant who didn't know that's what they were--to some extent he supposed.
