Mistoffelees shuffled through his deck, his usual habit, as he watched the people milling around the park. It was about lunch time, so more people were out in force than usual, especially since today was warmer than yesterday, and he enjoyed listening to them talking in groups.
He pulled his legs up to sit cross-legged on his bench, glancing around the park.

"'Ey, Misto. Didn't expect to see you 'round here." A southern-accented voice his left as Mungojerrie approached languidly.

Misto whipped his head around and smiled at the other. "Hey! I haven't seen you in a while either."

Jerrie chuckled, motioning to the bench. "Mind if I join ya?"

Misto scooted over a little. "Go right ahead."

The torbie sat down, absentmindedly withdrawing his switchblade and partially-carved block of wood. "What've you been doin' with yourself?"

"Not much," Misto said. "Mostly street tricks and shows. I've been helping someone out with some odd tasks, and some stuff like that. How about you? It has been a long time since I've seen you." He grinned, giving his shuffle an extra flourish.

Jerrie chuckled as his knife bit into the wood, whittling it gradually down. "Well, ain't much change for me. Still finding odd jobs down at the docks, and working on and off for someone 'round this area."

Misto laughed. "Sounds familiar." Odd jobs sound exactly like what he had been doing.

"Yeah, gettin' kinda sick of the uptown work, but hell if it pays who'm I to complain?" He shrugged slightly.

"Pretty much," Misto agreed. "How's your sister doing these days?"

"Pretty well, working day shifts at a restaurant 'round here." Usually He was still feeling tense about her having to work the late shift that week. "Don't really want her catching the bus or walking home after dark. Not in this town anyhow."

Misto nodded. "No kidding. I keep hearing different things, about crime and stuff. I've managed to avoid it though, but it's not a good idea to take chances right?"
((Oh honey, so hopeful and yet so doomed.))

Jerrie shifted a bit uncomfortably at that, thinking of the still in his basement, his knife biting deeper into the wood. "Yeah. Best not ask for trouble."
((Who, Misto? We wouldn't dream of doing anything to him would we?))

Misto glanced down at the block of wood in his hands. "So, what are you making then?"
((Nooooo, 'course not))
