"'Ave you got any idea the size of the operation you're gettin' involved with? That Jones fella's dangerous, I don't want you gettin' yourself caught in the middle of gang wars."

"Like anythin' you do is any safer." He muttered surlily.

"That ain't the point, when you're my age you can do whatever the hell you like, right now, you're still a kit, an' too young t'be gettin' yourself mixed up in all this."

"You're young enough, show me you can defend yourself an' I might think again. Right now, you're just a sittin' target f'a bunch of tommy guns. You only gotta be in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Taradan gave his brother another little shake, "I know more about what you get up to than any cat you know, besides, I've been there myself, I know how dangerous this game is."
Taradan's voice dropped a little lower as he said the last part, he'd never come clean with his family about what he did for a living, apart from his legitmate job at the gas station, he was certain some of his brothers suspected at the very least, and he wouldn't put it past Ricky to know, but if this was the only way of showing the kit what every real danger he was in, then it was worth coming clean with him.

Ricky's ears laced back and he struggled to get loose. "Lemme go! I'll be fine!"

Taradan tightened his grip on his younger brother, "How about you an' I take a quick walk before I see Ma? This is no joke alright, I'm gonna tell you a few things I ain't told no one."

Taradan's ears pricked and his expression widened momentarily in surprise; he'd not been expecting that response. He was silent for a moment, when he finally spoke, his tone was calm to start with, "I can't look out f'you forever. But if y'live that long, you might figure out I'm doin' this for your own good." by the end of the sentance, Taradan's was snapping at his younger brother as he roughly thrust the young tomcat away from him, relasing his grip on the kit's arm. "You wanna get yourself killed," he growled, "go ahead."

Ricky stumbled at the sudden release. His ears flickered in confusion at that. "Taradan? I...We c'n take that walk."

Taradan had already turned away from his younger brother, intending to leave, he hadn't been expecting Ricky to change his mind. He was still angry with Ricky too, the kit thought he was smart, but didn't have a clue. It took Taradan a minute to push his brother's wellbeing back above his own pride. He turned just his head to look at the worried kit, "I'm walkin'" he said, somewhat gruffly, "you wanna tag along you'd best be comin' now."

Ricky hesitated a second but quickly caught up to his older brother. "Sorry." He muttered.

Taradan sighed, cuffing his brother around the ears in a way that was more affectionate than actually designed to cause pain, "I don't do this for fun y'know an' believe it or not, I got more on my mind than spoilin' yours."
