"Not lately," Macavity shrugged. "I've been havin' enough of screamin' and cryin' lately. Used ta spend a lot of time at that opera house though. Somethin' about the arrogance there that's intriguin'. Intermission is funner than the show itself."

Looking around the room again, Macavity stopped when he noticed a particular business tom who been avoiding him--and paying him--for months. His posture chanced, turning predatory without thinking consciously about it. "You'll have to excuse me," he said, glancing back at Harquill. "I've seen somecat that requires my attention. I'm sure I'll see you around again," he added, tipping the brim of an imaginary hat. "Try not to be ta hard on the buffet table when I leave you alone together."

"It is not a problem, Mr. Hollister," Harquill said over the brim of his glass, sparing a glance over in the direction Macavity had been looking at. "Like you said, I'm sure I will see you around."

Inclining his head, Macavity swept across the room, grin spreading when the business tom noticed him and startled.

Harquill watched the other cat go before tipping his glass to take another drink, but he paused and no liquid went into his mouth. Carefully, he sat the glass back on to table to be forgotten as he decided he had not liked the drink after all.
