Macavity leaned back in his chair, legs up on the conference room table as he looked across it to where Mistoffelees was sitting, piles of paper in front of both of them. "I hate business."
Mistoffelees just arched a brow at him, one ear flickering back. "You're probably in the wrong job then, you know?"
Groaning, Macavity threw a pencil toward his head, which he batted aside. "I didn't sleep last night."
"Wasn't that normal for you?"
"Yeah, once upon a time," Macavity said. "But then there's a difference between being too busy for sleep, and kits screaming in the middle of the night lack of sleep."

Coricopat's lips twitched upward into a smile briefly as he glanced up from the file he was going over, "And I'm adding this to the list of reasons I am so very glad I never got married and settled down to have a family."

Both other toms looked over at him. "You're not settled down?" Mistoffelees teased. "I mean, okay, I can't really have kits here but there's always, you know, adoption and stuff. I'm sure I could take in an orphan and be lauded for it."
Macavity snorted into his file.

"Of course I'm settled down," the mottled tom responded. "As to adoption...it's possible. Of course, keeping in mind that we're not living together, it would be left to you to raise and take care of the kit. Much as i hate to say that."

Mistoffelees shuddered. "Just saying, it could still happen. I'd leave them with you on the weekends anyway."
Sighing again, Macavity looked over the file. "Remind me just to do illegal things. It creates so much less paperwork."

Coricopat chuckled, "Actually, Mac, there's a good deal of paperwork for the illegal bits too, it's just not usually on your end. Police and DAs office has fun with some of it."

"But the benefit to me is that they're the ones dealing with it, not me," Macavity groaned. "Do I really need to sign off on delivery shipments for the kitchen? I mean, and go over menus? Everlasting cat, I miss my old cooks."
Shaking his head, Mistoffelees laughed again, leaning his shoulder against Coricopat's.

Coricopat chuckled, offering Mistoffelees a bit of a grin, "Well, yes, you do need to sign off on those things. If I wasn't currently doing all of your book keeping I might offer to aid you with that, but I am doing your book keeping. Again."

Mistoffelees laughed, tilting his head to kiss Coricopat's neck.
Groaning, Macavity tossed another pencil at him. "Focus. Focus. This is a paperwork meeting. Then we can deal with everything else."

Coricopat slipped an arm around Mistoffelees long enough to kiss his temple, smirking at Macavity, "You seem to assume we can't do paperwork with this sort of a distraction."

"I would say get a room but you already have one and you're not using it."
"Because people would see us leaving the meeting without a further excuse to spend time together," Mistoffelees pointed out. "Even if we sneaked down the back stairs, there are people in the hallway."

"What he said," Coricopat agreed. "That's the problem with these meetings, suddenly we have no excuse to meet this evening."

"The paperwork was more intense then we'd expected and the meeting had to roll into the evening," Mistoffelees replied, not even looking up from the paper he was signing.

Coricopat smirked, "We could go with that." He turned back to the files he was going over, sliding one toward Macavity, "I was meaning to ask you about what you were thinking in regards to this? There's been some severe losses int his quarter, mostly monetary. My suggestion is to pull back on our business there, and see what we can do to strengthen our investments elsewhere."

Macavity looked over the papers. "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. You know, I'm starting to just dislike the stock market in general. Sell most of them, would you?"
