"And what exactly would you be doing?" he asked, reaching the bottom of the cup and giving it a deeply dissatisfied look.

For a long moment Sonya considered him before nodding and leaning back. "If you would like," he rumbled, crossing his arms over his chest and consider the other.

Russell flashed the Commissioner a smile before ordering him another cup. The tortie relaxed in his seat and smirked at the other's watchful gaze. "A picture would last longer," He commented.

Sonya snorted, shaking his head. "I would hardly pay money to immortalize you."

"'arsh," Russel pouted for a moment. "I could 'ardly say the same about you. You probably will get some form of recognition for your efforts."

"That sort of recognition hardly requires money," Sonya said, hunching his shoulders slightly. "Besides, how do you really think I would go down anyway, except as the foolish kit who thought he could stop and entire flood by himself?"

"Didn't that Noah person outlast the flood?" Russell wondered aloud. "Anyway, point es that you 'ardly give yourself enough credit." The tortie took another thoughtful sip of coffee. "You don't 'ave to be alone either."

The police commissioner did not move several moments, trying to figure out which part of that to even begin to address first. "Show me the clean cops under my control and we will talk about being alone," he murmured. "And Noah had God on his side."

"You didn't say anything about not giving yourself enough credit," He waved a finger at the other in mock disapproval. "Who's avoiding things now?"

"The city is no cleaner then when I started, so there is not much credit to give, da?" he snapped, the other hitting a sore point and nearly flinched when he realized his goddamn accent was leaking through.

Russell gave a pause for a moment so the other could cool off; instead of talking he took a leisurely bite of his sandwhich. After talking said bite, he also took a long dreg of his coffee before replying. "Et's not any less, though," He said thoughtfully and his thumb rubbed the rim of his coffee cup. "Et's thanks to you the entire city hasn't fallen into ruin yet."

Scowling and looking down at the table, Sonya busied himself with his coffee cup, feeling like a petulant kit who should not be nearly so miffed as he was. "Perhaps," he murmured finally, voice level again and carefully free of Russian.

Russell looked at the other across the table for a long moment and gave a shrug. That was probably all he was going to get from the Comissioner for the moment. "'ave another cup of coffee," the tortie offered as a waiter came around. "Just relax for a bit and rejoice in being free of my banter for the moment, oui?"

"I am free of your banter?" Sonya asked, arching a brow and looking back across the table at the other.
