Slois tucked his hands into his pockets as he walked. He needed to get out of the stuffy hospital but it was still too early to make his way over to the Palace. So he opted to head out for a walk and his legs brought him to the park. It was surprisingly empty for being near the center of the city; only a couple of cats were scattered over the expanse of green.
The tabby paused for a moment to consider the cats around him. He had to admit old habits die hard as he searched for anyone threatening. His gaze paused on a couple of cats, but he shook his head and let his eyes wander again. Eventually he grew tired of looking around like a scared mouse.
With a sigh he plopped onto a bench and held his head in his paws. He wished that he could just dismiss his old life but he'd grown so used to it that it just seemed hardwired into his blood. Instead of being able to remove it like he wanted to, Slois focused on ignoring the habits telling him that he was being always being watched. He was fine, there was no one out to get him here.

Strolling through the park in an attempt to get toward work early, carrying the fiddle case in one hand. Looking around he was distracted by some cats over to the side, and ended up getting his paw stuck in the edge of a bench he didn't even realize was there. Tumbling over, he rolled his body to make sure he wasn't about to end up on the fiddle case, cursing all the way down.

Slois looked up in surprise as the bench suddenly shook beneath him. A split second later he saw the source of the commotion: a tom who had stumbled into the bench. The tabby was on his paws in a moment, his tail giving a flicker behind him. The tall tom walked around to the side of the cat and looked down at him.
Slois hesitated, not sure whether to help the tom up or not. "Are you alright?" He asked somewhat worriedly and his paws loomed out in a position ready to help the cat if needed.

"Oh, sure," Alonzo replied, trying to be as cheerful as possible considering he was currently twisted around on his back on the ground, fiddle held protectively to his chest. "Just never that good at watchin' where I'm goin' in all."

"Umm," Slois began awkwardly. "Do you need help up?" His tail flickered behind him as he spoke. His eyes also looked over the fallen tom, taking in the full sight of the twisted- and rather uncomfortable looking- position the other was in.

"Here," Alonzo said, thrusting the fiddle case toward him. "I'll be able to get up if you don't mind holdin' onto that a moment." As he spoke his Irish accent was coming through stronger and stronger as he tried to untangle his paws.

Slois awkwardly cradled the case in his arms and gave him a small suprised expression. "Sure," He mumbled and shifted to hold the case in a sturdier position.

"Thanks," Alonzo said, bounding up using the bench and both hands. It looks unnecessarily messy, but seemed to get him up quickly. He held his paw out, both as introduction and to get his instrument back. "Alonzo O'Neal, by the way."

"Slois Tyme," The tabby said as he hefted the case ungacefully back into the proper owner's arms. Looking over the other cat's now slightly disheveled appearance, Slois gave something of a friendly smile. "I would say it's a pleasure to meet you but it wasn't one of the most graceful ways I've met someone."

Alonzo shrugged, unaffected. "It's not as unusual as I would hope, I'm sorry to say, for me."

"Well," Slois mumbled and glanced over the tom again, this time for injuries. "You didn't hurt yourself did you?"

Pausing a moment, Alonzo did a quick check before shaking his head. "Nope, all accounted for in a non injured sort of manner."

Slois gave a small chuckle, probably the first in a while. "Well that's good," He said and then looked off to where Alonzo had been heading. "Where were you going before you're paw found the bench?"

"Oh, tryin' to get to work a bit earlier," he said with a roll of his shoulders. "I mean, I don't gotta be there for a while but you know, settin' up early to practice ain't much of a bad idea. What's got you out alone on this bench then?"

Slois glanced at the bench before replying. "Family problems," He answered vaguely.
