"I have no explanation for it," the older cat glanced up, "but he isn't. He's quite courteous, in all honesty."

"Huh," Philip said, sounding downright surprised. "That's quite different from his uncle at any rate. I don't think anyone was sad when he hit the bucket." Shaking his head Philip continued playing with the paperweight. "So, he's not a snob. What is he like? No one seems to get close to this guy."

"He's a very private cat, but very polite. He's quite kind. He was at the New Year's Gala, don't you--oh right, you weren't there were you?"

Philip narrowed his eyes slightly. "No, I wasn't. But what was he doing there? Jones didn't go, how did he get in? Who was he with?"

"Hollister had a mandatory invitation to employees as far as I can tell. I think he may have been one of those, though I saw him with some cats I vaguely knew, I believe."

"Please give me more than vague," Philip said, voice a little strained. "But wait, you think he was an employee there? The heir of Jones' estate was an employee for Hollister?"

"Philip...this is not for your paper," Charles chastised. "He spent time around a cat I think may have been Hollister's younger brother, and someone I knew years ago at school."

"Newspaper? I want to know this for myself now! I became a gossip columnist because it interested me more than anything. This is quite one story and I just want to understand it." He shook his head. "Who was the old school friend?"

Charles didn't look like he quite believed his brother but finally nodded, "Coricopat Zimmerman. He's the ADA now."

A chill ran down Philip's spine. "Oh. Yes, I've met Mr. Zimmerman. He's rather... cold, isn't he?"

"I've heard he's grown quite ruthless in recent years. He didn't used to be, and I haven't spoken to him for several years now," came the response.

"Ruthless, yes," Philip said, nodding a little quickly. "That describes him. Do you think he and Quaxo are still hanging together?"

"I have no idea. I haven't seen him since New Year's."

Philip inclined his head, considering all that. "Well, clients standing you up aside, how have you been of late?"

"I've been doing well. My eye's been giving me trouble recently, but otherwise everything's pretty much normal. How have you been, brother?" The accountant asked quietly.
