Finally the last tumbler fell into place and Cori opened the safe door, pulling out the papers that were in there, he wasn't concerned about the other bits at the moment. He skimmed over the papers, wandering back over to the desk and sinking into the chair there.

Misto moved over to the safe, glancing through what keepsakes Jones thought were particularly valuable. Blinking, he pulled out a queen's necklace, silver with a pearl and diamonds. Carefully, he moved backward, perching on the side of the desk again, holding the necklace in front of him.

Coricopat continued sorting, placing most of the papers in an unlocked drawer and setting the ones he needed on the pile he was rapidly gathering of incriminating ones. He looked up at Misto, "...Are you alright?"

"I..." he swallowed and shrugged. "The one picture I have of my mother had her wearing this necklace. I suppose I just always wondered where it'd gotten too. I don't really have anything of her's, but I suppose a necklace wouldn't really do me much good anyway..."

"Well..." Cori dropped his gaze, nodding slightly, "I see."

Misto shrugged, letting the necklace fall into his lap and glancing back at Coricopat. "I've been dealing with this for almost twenty years. It's alright. It just... hurts sometimes. And..." he looked around. "I'm trying to adjust to the idea that all of this is mine."

Cori's lips quirked very slightly upwards, "It's rather a nice place. Rather a lot of space...unnecessary space really."

Misto laughed. "That's one way of putting it. I hated growing up here," he said, looking back down at the desk. "It didn't help it made me feel even more insignificant," he added softly, one paw tracing the wood of the desk's surface.

Coricopat stilled at that, looking up to study the smaller tom for a moment, before returning his gaze to the papers in front of him, "You're not insignificant. Jones was a fool."

Misto blinked his eyes up to Coricopat. "I... thank you," he said very quietly.

Coricopat met his eyes and shrugged slightly, grimacing as he was reminded of exactly why his arm was in a sling. "It's true."

The corner of Misto's mouth twitched upward. "Still, I guess it's sometimes nice to hear things like that." He noticed the grimace. "How's your arm doing?"

Discarding the idea of lying, Cori answered, "Well, it's been less than twenty-four hours so it still hurts like hell." He turned back to finish sorting the papers.

Misto nodded, face softening somewhat. "After this, is there anywhere you have to be, or anything we need to do?"

He shook his head, "Not that I can think of...I should let Macavity know this latest development, but I might be able to wait til tomorrow on that."
