Misto blinked and sighed, hoisting himself up from the steps. "Alright. But if I start ducking into random rooms because we see people in the hallway, I'll kindly ask that you ignore that."

"...Alright..." Cori looked at him oddly but opened the front door for him.

Misto smiled and shook his head. "I'm mostly kidding. I think I still have some dignity..." he paused. "So, you want his private office, right? 'Cause it's this way," he said, motioning up the staircase.

"Yes, that would be preferable. Lead on," Cor motioned for Misto to guide him, falling into step beside the other cat and estimating the value of items around them without thinking about it.

Going up the stairs and turning down the hallway, Misto followed Cori's eyes looking around at the different things the Jones' had acquired over centuries. "Would it be terrible of me to sell everything off?" he asked, pushing the door to the office open.

"I don't think so, but what would you do with the money?" The lawyer asked as he stepped into the office.

"No idea," Misto said, glancing around the office and closing the door behind them.

"I think I might wait on selling everything off then." Cori made his careful way over toward the desk, "Do you know if he had a private safe?"

"Yeah," Misto said, sitting on the desk. "I'm not sure the combination though." He paused, looking around with his ears flickering. "Do you want me to look for anything?"

"No matter, it shouldn't be too difficult to get into." Cori knelt by the desk and checked through the drawers. He glanced up at Misto, but just started rifling through the papers in the drawers he had no trouble opening. "If you can find me keys to the other drawers so I don't have to jimmie the locks that would be of great help."

Misto paused a moment before slipping off the desk, finding the keys easily. Years ago he'd found the hiding place but never really needed and Jones had never figured out he knew. Smiling faintly, he handed the keys to Coricopat and glanced toward a painting. "The safe is over there. It's hidden behind the painting. He's not... he wasn't very original."

Cori got the drawers open and began going through those papers, keeping most of them and sticking a couple of them into the unlocked drawers. "So I see," the mottled tom made his way over and moved the painting aside, not surprised when it swung on hinges. "Hm, pretty standard lock..."

"Yeah," Misto said, starting to look through the desk himself, and then turned to the bookshelf. Most of this stuff was at least vaguely familiar but he was looking at it differently now. Rather than being props he saw behind his uncle, these things were his now. He really had no idea how to handle that.

Cori pressed his ear to the safe, carefully listening for the tumblers as he sought the combination. His eyes followed Mistoffelees as he turned the dial on the safe.

Misto ran a paw along the spine of a book, glancing at a bust of what he assumed might be one of his ancestors. He glanced back at Coricopat, stilling so he wouldn't make any noise or distract the other.
