Griddlebone was still adjusting to the idea of being away from the 'Ribbon and everything that went on there. She paused when she heard the door open and close and poked her head out of the kitchen. The white queen smiled brightly, "'Tiger."

"Trying to gather together a new crew. Lots of doughy toms in the states, but they'll do anything for some excitement and a chance at fortune. Still, it would be good if they were more than cannon fodder."

Growltiger purred at the touch. He loved her paws. "A couple slum drunkards I might be able to whip into shape." Smoothly, he took her paw into her hand and kissed it. "But that's not important. Tell me about your day, dove."

"Rather uneventful all told. Was dealing with somecat who can help finish off some of the supplies we need to open up completely. Otherwise, spent it cleaning the place up a bit again."

He grinned warmly. "It looks lovely. Better than it did when the deckhands were doing it, that's for sure. I might run a tight ship but none of them have any taste for presentation."

She laughed quietly, "No, I don't suppose so." Her gaze flickered around the room, "Well, it'll do anyhow." Turning back to him, she fiddled slightly with the gold necklace at her throat, "I'm glad your day went well, or mostly."

Growltiger watched her paw play at the necklace around her neck for a moment, a little distracted by the curve of her wrist. "Oh..." he began. "Oh!" He exclaimed. "I almost forgot." He reached into the pocket of his leather greatcoat. "I brought you something from Europe --- I even paid for it honestly, even if the damn French merchant wanted my right arm and tail for it." He winked.
Inside the velvet box he produced was a tiny golden carving of La Fleur de Lis.

Milady reached out and ran a finger over the charm, "I....'Tiger, y-you didn't have to do that..." A moment later she realized how that could sound and spoke again, "It's beautiful, but you've done so much."

He purred happily, pleased at her praise. "I'll have to take you to Paris someday." He kind of hated the French with a burning passion, but queens liked that kind of thing.
