Jerrie entered the hospital after he was done with work for the day, making his way to Clara's room. He'd left the newspaper he'd bought in his truck. Everlasting cat, just when you didn't expect this city to get any worse... He knocked lightly on the door before opening it and sticking his head around it.

Clara glanced up from where she had a newspaper out, blinking at his appearance. "Jerrie," she said softly. "Hello."

The torbie slipped into the room. "Hey." He glanced at the paper, "Take it y' saw then?"

She paused and nodded. "Yes. I suppose I'm hardly surprised though," she said, and glanced up at the tom. "You can take a seat if you like..."

He hesitated and then settled in the chair at her bedside. He nodded very slightly, "How are you doing today?"

"Alright," she replied. "It was really more of a graze than anything and..." she hesitated over the last bit, but considering she had basically already told him. "I've had worse anyway."

Jerrie nodded slightly. He didn't like hearing it, but she had pretty much told him that. He absently pulled out his current carving, spread a kerchief on his lap and set to work on it. "How long do th' doctors say you'll be stayin' 'ere?"

Her eyes strayed down to where he was working on the carving, watching his motions for the moment. "Several days, I believe," she replied.

He nodded slightly, focusing on the angles of the inner carvings, he was almost done. He'd need to sand it and finish it--likely that would be possible in a couple of days. "Could be worse."

"Could be," she agreed with a sigh. "But I would rather this hadn't happened at all."

The torbie glanced at her, "Makes sense. Is there anythin' I could bring y' t' help pass th' time?"

He eyes strayed to the carving again. "Books are about it honestly. I'm not really sure what else to do with a hospital."

"Fair enough. Any particular books?"

She opened her mouth, considered, thought again, and then finally got out, "Plays, if you can find them. Perhaps Shaw."

"I'll see what I c'n do." He replied, carefully whittling away at the carving in his paws.
