"It is," the shorter tom agreed, shuffling the deck again, just to give his paws something to do, glancing back at Victoria. "Do you often get to enjoy the weather?" he asked her.

"I walk to and from work and school." It wasn't until after she said it that she considered that Mistoffelees might not approve of that much exercise.

Coricopat glanced at her crutches, but decided that perhaps commenting on that would e a bit of a mistake considering that Mistoffelees was present.

Misto glanced from her crutches to Coricopat's cane and closed his eyes, took a breath, and opened them again. "As long as you're careful," he said softly. "Then that's a great way to enjoy the weather."

Coricopat nodded slightly, speaking before he thought about it. "That is usually a good plan."

Misto shot the mottled tom a hard look. "You're one to talk," he said before he could bit the sentence back, his eyes straying to the cane again.

Victoria paused for a moment to gauge whether the toms were going to fight. Drastically unsure she focused on finishing her sandwich. Tail still loose but her ears and eyes were on the males.

The ADA's eyes narrowed at that, "I'm fine."

"Ish," Misto said, eying the cane once more. "Just..." he took a breath, ears going flat from where they were on either side of his fedora. "Alright, you're fine, I just wish you were more fine, okay? You're like a mortality tale to children of what not to do when injured..."

Victoria finished her sandwich and found the orange her mother had packed. Careful to keep it over her makeshift napkin she began using her claws to daintily inscribe longitudinal lines through the rind.

Coricopat frowned, "And you're exaggerating."

"Not by that much," Misto responded and realized he very much should have nodded and bit his tongue on the last statement.

"What- what did he do?" She had begun to peel her orange along the lines she'd carved in the peel.

Coricopat bit back a growl at Mistoffelees, but didn't say anything in response to him. He took a deep breath, "I managed to injure myself a few months ago."
