Mistoffelees leaned back against the bench, looking around the park. The day was sunny for the first time in forever, and the weather was almost taking a turn for the warmer. Though he had a job now, it wasn't until the evening, and for a few days at least he liked coming back out to the park and doing magic tricks. A large part of it was just sitting out in the sun and another part was observing cats.

It had been a long recovery, and although Dr. Cohen's orders had her on crutches for another week and a half, Victoria was getting tired of them. Honestly she felt better. The pain was gone. She figured it would make sense to get a little exercise without the crutches. Mr Seidensticker had allowed her to go the the park to enjoy her lunch. It was packed away in the knapsack her mother had given her, which she set down on a patch of grass and set down one crutch as well.
Without the prying eyes of either her mother or her boss, she could test her leg. So she held the remaining crutch away from her body and took a tentative step.

Shuffling the deck again, Mistoffelees glanced around, spotting a flash of white fur that he thought looked familiar... "Ah, Victoria?" he called out, placing her with no trouble once he actually got a good look at her.

Victoria jumped and was very glad she still had her crutch in hand. Leaning on it she carefully peered around until she spotted the tuxedoed Tom. Smiling she raised her free hand to wave and made her way over on one crutch.
"Hello Mr Quaxo."

He grinned at her as she approached, shuffling the deck once. "Hello," he replied, motioning to the bench. "Sit if you like and have the time. Is your leg doing any better? I mean, you're standing which is a good sign..."

"It feels much better. I thought I might try it a little on my lunch break." She did take the invitation to sit, keeping one eye on her lunch and remaining crutch. "I confess, I did not see you here at first."

He followed her gaze, noticing the lunch and crutch. "Are those yours? I can grab them for you if you like, having tracked all the way over here to say hi to me." Turning his gaze back to her, he smiled faintly. "And that's alright, not always the most noticeable figure." He paused for a moment. "But, are you even supposed to be walking without crutches yet?"

"Yes, those are my things." She responded to his inquiry regarding her belongings. As he brought up her injury Victoria bit her lip and let her gaze fall to her paws in her lap. "Doctor's orders are to be on crutches for ten more days. I thought that it wouldn't be so bad for me to gently test how the healing was progressing."

The black tom blinked at her for a moment and sighed. "If the doctor says ten more days, I would say trying to stick with that. The kinder you are to your body, the faster it'll heal after all. And the sooner you can do dancing again."

"I didn't mean- I only meant to take a few steps. Five minutes at the most, just enough to test my strength." her tail curled around her ankle, she'd come to the park to avoid just such a scolding.

Misto's ears flickered at her look. "No, I mean, just... be careful alright? I know it's hard, and you're impatient to get better, but the doctor's orders are there for a reason, yeah?" He tilted his head. "I'm sorry, I might be over reacting..." After seeing Coricopat still limping long after he should have gotten better, Misto was feeling a little on edge about the whole issue.

"You're probably right." She sighed and fiddled with the button on her coat. "I actually chose to eat outside today because I didn't want Mr Seidensticker giving me this lecture."

Misto's other ear flickered back. "I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to lecture," he replied, voice dropping slightly. "It's just, someone I know has a limp that should have healed that hasn't gone away yet, and I know he pushed himself too hard too fast and... I would like to make sure the same didn't happen to you."

"Oh." And she was quiet again. Fiddling with her button. She looked up at her things lying in the grass again.

He followed her gaze again, his own tail flickering and giving a twinge of pain before rising, murmuring, "Here, I'll grab those." He retrieved them quickly, bringing the things back over. "I am sorry," he said, holding them out to her. "I did over react and you did nothing wrong. Just... be careful."
