Jack grinned to Honey, looking so cute as she bobbed along with the music, finished the song, and then turned to look at Lou, awaiting his decision.

Honey finished and flashed a brief grin at Jack, she had no idea if she'd got the job, (or even if there was really a job to get) but she was happy with how she'd performed, feeling she'd done the song justice at any rate. She glanced back to Lou, wondering if he was the type to make an on the spot decision.

When it came to music he tended to be. Most other things he'd mull over, but music had to be fresh in his mind for him to make a decision. "You've got a very good voice and you know how to sing songs that suit it."

Honey offered Lou a more demure smile than the one she'd given Jack, though it was genuine enough, "Thank you." she thought she could possibly sense this being followed by a 'but' though and waited, rather than comment further.

Lou sighed softly, "I just don't think it's a fit for here. I'll give you references if you choose to pursue another singing job, but I just don't think it's a good fit."

Honey felt herself sink a little at that, however, she wasn't particularly surprised by the answer, it just made her wonder slightly why he'd bothered seeing her, that assessment could have been made without hearing her sing. However, it would seem somewhat ungrateful to question it, dented pride or at being turned down or not. Instead, she just shrugged slightly, gathering her things and slipping into her coat again. "Well thanks for taking the time to see me anyhow. If you ever change your mind, let me know." she even managed a smile, knowing better than to mope about something like this, dissapointment or not.
She turned to Jack, "Could I have my music please?"

Lou sighed softly. He'd asked her to come so he could give her a reference and vouch for her if it came to that. "As I said, if you ever need a reference for another singing job, let me know. You'll get that."

Jack was somewhat disappointed by Lou's choice to turn Honey down, but he trusted his decision, so said nothing.
He took the sheet music and stood up, handing it to the queen with an apologetic smile. Then, realizing she was about to walk out the door and he might not bump into her again, he leaned forwards a little and murmured so that only she could hear it, "would you be up for meeting up for drinks, say, tonight? I mean, I have to play a couple of sets with the band tonight, but we could do drinks between sets. Both bands are on tonight, so I have longish breaks between sets."

Honey wasn't sure she saw the point in that, to some degree at least, her voice was her reference, but she supposed it never hurt to have a reason to get an audition in the first place, and she could tell Lou meant well enough. She just smiled and nodded, "Thank you, I'll bear that in mind." then she turned to take the music Jack was holding out.
Honey's eyebrows raised slightly at the tomcat's request, she had taken a liking to him, she had to admit, but she hadn't quite expected the invitation all the same. She was flattered though and it was her turn to give him an apologetic look as she shook her head, "I'm sorry, but I've got another engagement tonight," she was due at The Coral in a few hours, "maybe another time though?" she was interested enough to offer him another chance at least.

Jack smiled and nodded. "Fair enough. I'm here most evenings, so I'm easy enough to find," he said.

Honey nodded back, even managing a smile as she pushed her hair from her eyes again, "I might just pop by on the off chance then."
Then she turned back and put the music carefully away before nodding to both of them. "Well thank you both for your time." she buttoned her coat and ajusted her hat, "I'd best be getting on."

Honey nearly said something about not needing luck, but she bit her lip instead, nodding to them both and marking for the door.
