Jack noticed Lou's sigh, and mentally berated himself for getting ahead of himself, not waiting for Lou to introduce them. Oh well, too late now. He walked over to the piano and sat down on the stool, placing the sheet music on the stand. He looked up, glancing both to Honey and Lou. "Any preference as to which song?" he asked.

Shaking her head, Honey looked at Lou, "Not unless you only want to hear one? "I've got 'How Come You Do Me Like You Do' with a fairly upbeat rythm and and 'Somebody Loves Me' on a slower tempo."
((yeah not expert song choices I know, but it took me long enough just to find jazz songs in a female vocal from '25 or earlier.))

Lou looked to the young singer, letting her choose which she would prefer to start with.

Honey considered for a moment, deciding which one would show off her vocals better if he stopped her after one number. "Somebody Loves Me' if it's all the same to you."

Lou nodded slightly, settling at a nearby table to listen.

Honey shucked her coat and hat on the back of a nearby chair, then came to stand by the piano, waiting for her musical cue to begin.

Jack nodded, and when Honey appeared to be ready, began playing 'Somebody Loves Me', starting with a short instrumental intro, before the first verse.

Honey's voice picked out the melody easily, strong but not overpowering, she sung with the emotion the song needed, relaxing as the sound flowed out of her, a slightly wistful expression on her face.

Jack smiled as he played, tailtip flicking along to the tune. The lady could sing, that's for sure. At least Jack thought so. He glanced at her sideways, briefly, before returning his gaze to the sheet music. She was pretty darn cute, too.

Honey caught Jack's eye for just a moment as she sung, and did play the song to him slightly for a few lines, it was good to have an audience she could connect with, even when that audience was also her pianist. However, she didn't let him distract her, taking care not to falter or get too carried away. If there was one thing she prided herself on when singing, it was the control she had over her voice. Having a natrually good sounding voice was just luck in her opinion, it was how you used it that made the difference.

Jack smiled when Honey turned her attention to him for a bit, but tried to not get distracted by it. In stead, he focused entirely on the piano, and finished the song with no mistakes.

Lou sat back, nodding, "You've got a good voice. Do you mind if we hear the other song?"

Honey smiled at Lou's words, "Thank you, and of course not." She glanced over at Jack again." deciding it was better to focus on the singing and not concern herself with her chances of getting the job just yet. She had a feeling it likely wasn't her vocal talent that was in question.

Jack nodded, and smiled to Honey. Turning back to the piano, he placed the sheet music to 'How Come You Do Me Like You Do' on top, and then started playing the more upbeat melody.

Honey's focus quickly became the music again, and she unconsciously bobbed along to the piano as she sang, enjoying being able to interject a little more personality and fun into the number.
