For a moment Sonya fell silent. If it had not been so wet, he would have considered sitting down on the bench beside the other. "Well, not to take sides here, but there is still plenty of things you can do. Even if you did not do well in school, many jobs do not even require that, and quite a few offer on the job training." He paused, looking the other over. "Assuming jobs are a sign of worth, which of course they are not always. But everyone has the ability to pull themselves up if they bother trying. Sometimes it just takes a while." Not like he would really know, having been born into such wealth. But he hoped that was the case.

Tugger turned slightly towards Sonya, spreading his paws wide, "Be honest, look at me, would y'hire me?" he shook his head, "Actually, this is the other thin' he was goin' on about. Me sayin' things like this. Ain't like I'm sayin' it because it ain't true though."

Sonya blinked and shrugged. "Sure," he replied. "You need some training--" and god knew this was out of desperation than anything-- "but I might well consider hiring you. When you are not drunk out of your mind, you are decent enough of a wit."

Tugger binked a bit at the other cat, "So the two times you've met me, first arrestin' me on a suspected murder charge an' now, by all rights y'should be arrestin' me f'my own bleedin' stupidity in gettin' this drunk, an' instead, you're still willin' t'offer me a job?"

"I am not quite offering, but saying that if you tried, you could probably get a job well enough. Possibly even with the department. And well, as for the suspected murder it certainly was not you and as for this... well, getting drunk every once and a while is a good deal less corrupt than most we have in the department."

Tugger gave a short laugh, "I guess you got a point." a pause, "This city could do a hell of a lot worse than you f'commissioner. Even if y'do go about offerin' jobs t'drunks."

"Well," Sonya said. "I will be assuming you will not be drunk on the job..."

[amanika]

"Well I'm guessin' I wouldn't last long if I was." Tugger replied, he thought for a moment, "Hypothetically speakin' " another pause whilst he considered that fact that he'd actually managed to pronounce 'hypothetically' whilst drunk, "if I was interested, what would I hafta' do?"

Sonya shrugged. "There is the academy, it is a couple months of training before you are allowed on the job. You already have your own gun, which would be helpful but..." he shrugged. "First you need to be gotten home to sleep that off."

The maned tom nodded at Sonya's words, "I guess so." he rasied himself off the bench, somewhat unsteady still, swaying as he straigtened. "Oh jeez..."

Sonya arched a brow. "You are not going to need help getting there are you?"

[amanika]

Tugger shook his head, steadying himself, "It ain't that. S'what happens when I get back I gotta worry about. If I get in without disturbin' my father s'fine."

Sonya blinked. That certainly did not sound good, but he could hardly press the issue. "Would a hotel not make more sense then?"

[amanika]

Tugger snorted, "Ain't exactly an option."

Sonya sighed again. For some reason he felt just a little responsible if he just walked away from somecat in such a state. "What would you be looking at if you went back? I can pay for a room for the night if need be."
