The rain had returned full blast just in time for the night. Tugger had barely cared hours ago when he'd finished his shift at the Fishbone and headed straight downtown for The Coral, determined to silence the damn thoughts that had been running through his head for the entirety of his shift.
Now, getting on into the small hours, and far too many bad drinks later, he'd been ejected from the place at closing time. Attempting to walk home, he'd shortcut through the park, but found himself halting not far though it to throw up behind a bush, most of the day's wages worth of cheap liquor had not sat well in his stomach. It was only for being a tomcat of his height and build that he was still able to walk, if you could call it that.
A few yards on, Tugger stopped again, grateful now for the steady rain to help wash away some of the acrid taste in his mouth.

Once again, Sonya was heading home far too late. He really needed to figure out a way to be home before the middle hours of the morning, but it just never seemed to work out that way for him.
Pausing, he noticed a form that appeared to be staggering around the park and frowned. It would be about that time of morning to see drunks out and about wouldn't it? Prohibition was supposed to have stopped that, was it not? Sighing, he made his way over to the form. "Sir," he started and blinked. "Tugger Hollister?"

The thought that he might run into someone had really not crossed Tugger's mind, there hadn't been much room for any thoughts by the time he'd finished drinking, which had rather been his aim. All the same, upon recognition of the figure before him, and the dawning of what that meant, he pulled himself together better than might have been expected, sobriety it didn't stretch to, but coherence was a start. "Commissioner Vlask? Oh Cat..."

Sonya blinked at him. "You look a mess," he muttered. "The hell were you thinking?"

"The idea was kinda not t'be thinkin'." Tugger managed.

Sonya sighed. "Which is never a good plan when you are dealing in illegal matters." He paused. "Do you even remember where your home is?"

Tugger drew himself up to his full height, trying not to wobble, "I ain't that drunk."

Sonya raised a brow, considering that. "Sure you are not," he muttered. "You look like you are."

"Appearances can be decievin'." Tugger replied, the surrealness of this conversation dawning on him. "Shouldn't you've arrested me by now or somethin'?" that was one good thing about being this drunk, things were too fuzzy for him to comprehend too much fear at his situation. Mild curiosity would have to do for now. Tomorrow would likely be a hellishly different story.

Another sigh came from the fluffy cat. "Would you like me to arrest you? Because honestly it is past two in the morning and any desire I have to go back to the station has long since passed."

" 'Couse I don't want y'to, but well," Tugger shook his head, "y'run inta' the police commissioner in my condition an y'tend to assume it's gonna' happen. Though I don' think either o' my brothers'll be so willin' t'help me out this time." he cursed loudly as he thought about Macavity, recalling what he'd been trying to forget all night with painful accuracy, ears flicking back, he took a couple of steps and sat down rather suddenly on a nearby bench, leaning on his elbows and resting his head in his paws.

"You look like a complete mess," Sonya remarked, watching him. "What got you into such a state anyway? Beside the drink I mean, that sometimes is less the problem as what caused the urge for it."

Tugger grimaced slightly as he felt the water from the bench start to soak through his clothing. He didn't move all the same, trying to get his head around Sonya's question and come up with the most accurate answer. When he did, he didn't much like it, but he said it anyway. "Macavity." a pause, "An' that he's right about me, he don't know everythin' but well, some stuff anyhow."

Sonya considered. Was he really trying to have a meaningful conversation with a drunk past two am? "That was your brother right? The one that bailed you out?" Another pause. "What did he say about you then?"

"Yeah, tha's him." Tugger tried unsuccessfully to catch the slur in his words, throwing up hadn't stopped the large amount of alcohol that was already in his bloodstream.
"He said a lot o' things. Mostly he's sick o' me complainin' about things I can't change... think he thinks I can change them," he shook his head, "or somethin'... Mebbe' coz he did." a pause, "'Straps too I guess. But I ain't him and I definitely ain't Straps, I screwed too much up when I was younger, not sayin' that ain't my fault, course I should've stayed in school, Mac did 'is best t'make me. Guess I never did as good a job of listenin' to him as he'd like, though it don't mean I ain't grateful. I jus'..." he shrugged, "I ain't got no clue anymore." he was silent for a brief moment, "Even if I did, it ain't somethin' that's gonna happen overnight. Don't mean I don't try.
