Cori almost considered asking if it could wait until morning, but simply nodded. "Let me get dressed first and I'll get to work on it." He'd see if he could find coffee or tea or something to keep himself awake in the meantime.

He accepted the coat with a murmured thanks before stepping outside, pulling it on. Once the cool air of the night hit him, he paused, standing on the steps of the hotel and looking out over the lights of Felidae.

Griddlebone wrapped her arms around herself as she stood next to him, glancing up at the red tabby, but deciding it was better not to say anything.

He lingered there for a moment, before reaching an arm out and encircling her waist, drawing her to his side gently but still unwilling to say anything. Instead, he rested his head on top of hers, trying to remember what steady breaths were.

Griddlebone returned the embrace, gently, resting her head against his chest, letting him lead any conversation at this point.

He glanced down at her, realized what he just said, what he implied more of, and tensed abruptly, stepping away. No, she didn't need to know that. Seeing the scars were enough, she didn't need to know where they came from.
