Coricopat ate his breakfast quickly and quietly, glancing at his sister from time to time, but unwilling to say anything. His gaze kept flickering to the clock, as though hoping it would be done sooner rather than later so he could leave for school, though he still had to go with his sister.

Tantomile said very little, she didn't feel like eating much either, toying more with her breakfast than consuming it, before eventually scraping it into the bin. For the first time since she could remember, she wasn't looking forward to school, what was the point of it now it wasn't going to get her anywhere? The thought of the journey with her brother's current silence was rather unbearable as well. Nevertheless, she was ready to go at their usual time.

By the time their usual departure time rolled around, Cori had finished his meal, gone through his book bag twice and finally settled on not carrying a couple of his texts (after taking them in and out of the bag several times). "Are you set, Tantomile?"

Tantomile gave her brother the smallest of nods, her voice soft when she spoke. "Of course." she picked up her own bookbag.

Cori opened the front door, holding it for her, but unable to figure out something to say--for once in his life.

She aknowledged his holding of the door with a little nod of thanks as she walked through it, though her ears were flicking, their silence, joint or not, making her uncomfortable. She did want to talk to him about last night, even if she was currently unsure how to begin, she hoped it would be easier once they were out of the house and truly on their own and listened for the close of the door with a little desperation.

Cori sighed, coming down the front porch steps and starting toward school. "How are you doing today, Tant?"

Tantomile felt a wave of relief when her brother spoke, though her own reply was still soft, "Better for you asking," she shook her head, "I'm sorry about last night, about what I said to you. But what you said hurt me too, I know it was truthful, but that didn't mean it hurt less. But for what it's worth, I am sorry."

Cori hesitated, nodding slightly. "I forgive you." He paused for a long moment. He'd apologized already, but obviously she'd missed it. "I...I'm sorry too."

Tantomile gave her brother a small smile, "Thank you Cori, I forgive you as well, and..." she took a bit of a deep breath in, "and I really do mean it when I say I'm happy for you. You'll do really well at law school, or whatever you end up choosing."

He wasn't entirely sure he believed her, but he nodded. "Thank you, Millie."

She offered him another smile, but then fell silent, biting a lip for a moment or two before she asked, "Did you go back downstairs last night?"

"For a little while, but I had homework that I still had to get done."

A nod, "Fair enough, I.. uh, what did Father say?"

"Nothing. Asked if you were joining us, but didn't remark more than that." He replied quietly.
