Whenever Macavity decides to wander back into his office, he'll find one (1) Clover, seated in the chair on the guest side of his desk. He's some how small enough to be able to sit sideways in the thing, knees draped over the armrest and legs crossed at the ankles, upper back leaning against the opposite armrest, turning an ace of clubs over in his paw. His purple bowler hat is tipped a bit to the side at an almost jaunty angle, and from his current position the light in the room is reflecting off his glasses in such a way that, were someone to enter from the doorway, it would temporarily obscure his eyes. His tail curls and uncurls lazily against the floor, and he seems fairly unperturbed that he's comfortably seated in a room that is apparently locked.
How did he get in? Was it the window? Did he pick the lock? It's anyone's guess, really, and he's not about to reveal it. But he's a very patient cat, so he'll just sit here and wait until Macavity shows up.

Ears flickering in annoyance--more at the world than any general cats at the moment--Macavity sighed upon reaching his office, pulling the keys out with a slight jangle to unlock it for the day. Opening the door, he froze when he spotted a small cat in a... purple? bowler hat already in the office. He blinked, blinked again and closed the door. "The hell is this?" he demanded, striding over to behind his desk.

"Oh, this?" Clover flipped the ace of clubs so he was showing the face to Macavity. "Just an ace of clubs, sir, that's all." And with a friendly grin, he stuck the card back in the hat band of his bowler, face out.

Mac blinked at the other, and a low growl rumbled in his chest. "No, not that. How the hell did you 'et in here and... why?"

"Why?" Clover looked surprised at the question, swinging his legs off the armchair and sitting straight forward in it, ankles still crossed. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, paws laced together in front of him, looking quite earnest. "Why, because you need me, of course!" He did, however, ignore that second question.

Mac blinked rapidly at that display. "... Why?" he repeated, titling his chin slightly away from the other, looking him over.

Clover beamed. "Because you're ever so terrible at negotiations!"

Macavity blinked again, slowly, almost wondering if the other would disappear when he closed his eyes. Didn't work. He reached a paw up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "You, I, what? The hell you mean by that?"

Clover sighed. "It's not exactly a secret that you and your associate seem to have a hard time getting out of meetings unscathed."

Macavity growled softly again. "Not exactly a secret, is that? And what exactly are you offerin' then, against that?"

Clover blatantly ignored the growl and anything threatening that might've gone along with it. "I'm offering my services as a negotiator." He grinned, cheerfully. "Someone who's on your team, that'll keep you from getting into that same trouble again."

Macavity paused for a moment, leaning against his desk before sitting. "Oh?" he asked with an arched brow. "Is there anything to recommend you to that position? Beside the fact you seem to pick locks?"

"You'll find I'm quite the excellent negotiator. And I didn't pick the lock on your door, by the way, though I caa pick locks."

Macavity blinked. "Then how the hell did you 'et in?"

"Have you noticed that you don't lock your windows? You might want to fix that." Clover paused for a moment, seeming to ponder something, before he shrugged. "Not that it would keep me out. But it would've at least made it a little harder to get in.
