There was another slow blink on Mac's part. "The window," he said finally, glancing out behind him. Well, it was really only the second story, so it wasn't that surprising... rather unheard of but perhaps not that surprising. He was going to padlock that window though. "I'll keep that in mind," he muttered finally.

"See that you do." Clover grinned. "When do I start?"

"You're gonna." Clover stated, shifting in his seat again, this time settling back against the back of the chair with his legs criss-cross.

"Remind me why again?" Mac asked, pulling out his cigarette case and lighter, pulling one out and lighting it. "You've made plenty of claims, and aside from bein' remarkably spiderlike, have 'iven me nothin' more than words ta support your case."

Clover seemed to visibly perk at that. "Oh, so you'd like a demonstration, then?" He hoped down off the chair, giggling. "Hee hee hee! Well, why didn't you say so? Come on, then." And with that, he was headed towards the door. "Don't forget your coat!"

For a long moment Macavity didn't respond before putting his hat back on and following the other at a much more sedate pace, actually curious to see where this was going. He shrugged on his coat, taking another long drag from the cigarette as he followed.

"Come on, come on!" Clover's grinning face peeked at Macavity from down the hall when he emerged from his office. "We gotta get goin' while the goin's good!"

Macavity refused to speed up his pace, following the other down the hall and toward the stairs leading to reception. "I do hope you have a plan for this," he said, taking another drag. "I don't enjoy bein' disappointed."

At that, Clover stopped in his tracks, turning to look at Macavity with a bit (okay, maybe more than a bit) of a pout. "Why, Mister Macavity, sir! I'm insulted! I? Disappoint? Why, I never!" He shook his head. "No, you'll see." Clover winked. "You'll be far from disappointed, I'm sure of it!" With that, he was back to exiting the building via the stairs to reception.

On his way out, Macavity nodded toward Martin, who arched a brow at the scene unfolding before him before returning to his notes. Still walking at a sedate pace, Mac followed the small cat outside, glancing around and taking another drag. "Well then?"

Once outside, Clover pulled a wooden nickle from his pocket, and flipped it into the air, before catching it in his paw. "Pick someone." He grinned at Macavity, spreading out a paw in motion to the crowd of passerby on the street, going about their every-day business.

That caused Macavity to frown, suddenly more wary of where this was going. "So lon' as you do no harm ta them," he said, glancing around and nodding to a man in a suit who seemed to be going toward work off their lunch break. "Him."

Clover blinked, looking a bit surprised for half a moment. "I wouldn't hurt 'em physically. This is just a small demonstration." He flipped the wooden nickle again, catching it without looking as his eyes went to the cat Macavity pointed out. "That one? Alright." He turned his attention back to Macavity, grinning again. "How much would you price a wooden nickle at, Mister Macavity?"

Macavity blinked and shrugged. "Not much. A nickel at most."
