It was late in the day before Tantomile Zimmerman returned to the Demoniaque. She was feeling exhausted, mentally and emotionally drained after the night of broken sleep and the less than ideal visit to her brother.
She'd gone straight home after she'd left Coricopat's, realising herself to be in a pretty irrational state of mind. She was so angry with him, the second she thought he might actually still care about her and he twisted it into the most hurtful retorts. Part of her hoped that perhaps he just didn't want to admit to things even more than she did, but the other half was actually beginning to wonder if he'd set her up for a fall from the moment she'd entered the room.
After several hours at home, listening to music, taking a nap and then finally busying herself with work, she was feeling more like herself again. Eventually she stopped finding things to do that would put off collecting those files from the Demoniaque that bit longer. She was seeing some of those clients tomorrow and needed the files back.
Tantomile ignored the desk clerk as she made her way quickly up to the ballroom level, either Macavity would be in his office or he wouldn't. However, despite everything, she wasn't quite suicidal, and did recall her brother's advice. Hating herself for taking it, but knowing it was mostly common sense anyway. She slowed her pace as she reached the corridor that led to Macavity's office, certainly she wouldn't be bursting in again.

Macavity was just shuffling his papers to start heading up to his other office when his ears tilted forward at the sound of pawsteps. His brow quirked up, and he called out his usual, "Enter!"

Tantomile stepped quickly inside, knowing if she didn't she might actually loose her nerve. "Good evening Macavity."

"...Evenin'," Mac said slowly, a brow arching at who it was. "Can I help you with somethin'?"

"I hope so," her tone was more reserved and less direct than usual, "I think I left a pile of files in here by accident last night."

Mac blinked, and glanced around his desk. "Oh, so that's what those were."

"Mmm. They're client files, the only ended up here because I'd come straight from my office. I put them down on your desk and what with everything, they rather got forgotten."

Mac glanced her over and shrugged. "I figured out they were client files of some kind," he said, gesturing. "I left them over there," he said, pointing toward a stack of files on top of a chair to the side.

"Thank you," she went to collect the files from where he'd indicated. "You read them?" she asked, it didn't really matter to her if he had, so long as none of her clients were any the wiser, but she was curious all the same.

Mac shrugged slightly. "Browsed through a couple. Didn't have much time though."

"Ah, I hope it didn't waste too much of your time?"

Mac rolled his shoulders. "Naw, I was just curious what they were. Somewhat interestin', though none of them really pertained ta anythin' I needed ta know."

She shook her head, "I wouldn't've thought they did. The majority of my private clients have nothing wrong with them other than personal insecurity and a need for attention."

Mac arched a brow at that, leaning back slightly, still shuffling through papers on his desk. "Hm, yes I did notice that a bit."

She gave a light shrug, "It pays well though. But it's what keeps me on the state payroll as well, those cases tend to be far more interesting from a personal point of view."
