Misto blinked at him, considering. "Probably until I can make a decent escape. Why?"

"Just asking out of curiosity." Came in response.

Misto raised his brows at that but went with it. "Alright. How long are you stuck here for?"

"Until the last guest leaves or I can get away without Macavity noticing, whichever happens first."

Misto's brows only went higher at that. "So, the whole night then? Rather glad I'm not you at this point."

Cori rolled his eyes. "Yes, the whole night. If I could get out of it I would, but I can't."

"You poor thing," Misto teased and then realized what he had said and that he should probably not tease the cat who had gotten him a job let alone a place to live. Not like that anyway.

Cori's brow arched at that, glancing at Misto before rolling his eyes "Yes, poor me."

After a moment, Misto grinned. Well, it had done over better than he expected as soon as the words left his mouth. "I'm sure it could be worse though? I mean, parties aren't all that terrible...?"

"No, nothing wrong with them...They're just large crowds of cats who will spend the night pretending to like one another and tomorrow would sell each other out whether to newspapers, the police, or each other. No, nothing wrong with them at all."

Misto chuckled. "While that was amazingly bitter, also very true," he glanced around, recognizing far more of the guests there than he would have liked. At least his uncle hadn't shown up yet, but considering the other's desire to be fashionably late that didn't mean much.

"Mm. Perhaps. At least I don't have to greet them all..."

Inclining his head, Misto kept his eyes vaguely toward the door. "Just imagine how worse the evening could be, in other words. Seriously, having to greet everyone is terrible."

Cori nodded, suppressing a slight shudder at the thought of that much cordiality and contact. A few handshakes throughout the day were one thing, that many, with cats he either found inferior or hated outright? Oh that sounded delightful.

Mistoffelees tried not to laugh too outright at that shudder. Too many times when Bustopher Jones was "fashionably" late to events, he had had to cover the entrance, in charge of greeting the guests. He was ever so glad to be out of that house. "Anycat of interest coming tonight?"
