"Well I meant if you were in my position Mac," Tugger tried to explain, which was hard without sounding ungrateful, he shrugged, "mebbe' it's easier even f'Straps, I just.... y'shouldn't have t'be doin' this. Not if I'd got my act together sooner. I know it ain't just about me, but well, it's a lot of money t'accept."
Not that Tugger had much choice in the matter, Munkustrap had always delt with the financial side of things since Macavity moved out anyway, Tugger had never even had access to the account the mortgage payments went out of. Since getting the job he'd just passed his earnings onto his brother, trusting Munkustrap to use it where it was needed.

Leaning back in the chair, taking the front legs off the floor, Mac considered him, his arms crossed over his chest. "Even if you had gotten things tagether sooner, that doesn't mean you had a snowball's chance in hell of payin' off all the hell he managed ta accumulate." He bit the inside of his lip. "I just wanted ta help. You're my brothers."

Tugger's ears flattened a little, "I know," he said, though the words came with a sigh, "I just... I should be thankin' you, I know, it does take the pressure off, an' like I said t'Munk, if it means he might actually start lookin' after himself better instead of worryin' about what it's costin' then it can't be bad." he shook his head, "I just..." he gave up, "I don't know. Thanks, Mac."

Mac shrugged, actually uncomfortable with that. "Well, Merry Christmas Tug."

"Merry Christmas Mac." Tugger agreed, running his paw through his headfur again, it was starting to look very tousled. "You havin' a good one then?" he asked after a moment, though he was still stood hovering a few feet from the desk, not really sure if he should stay or even if Macavity would want him to. "I'm sorry about walkin' in before, but the door was open and I didn't realise there was someone else..."

"Quite alright," Mac replied. "The door was open and I'm sure Cohen hardly minded, especially since you were here basically for the same reason," he grinned slightly, though without his usual charm. "Do you want ta sit down or anythin'?"

Tugger looked somewhat relieved, he glanced about him when Macavity suggested he sit, finally settling on the chair opposite the desk, though he was a little still on edge still to sit back properly. "Y'sure I won't be gettin' in the way?"

Mac spread his paws out, letting his chair come back down to the ground. "What would you be gettin' in the way of? It's Christmas so the hotel's still runnin' but not much more than that. Some paperwork but most people are still out."

Tugger shurgged, "I dunno, looked like you were workin', wouldn'tve thought you'd have spent the day in an office if y'didn't hafta."

"Sure, there's stuff ta 'et done and..." What else was he supposed to really do? He would be throwing a massive party in a few days anyway. "Do you want ta get lunch?"

Tugger hadn't really thought much about food, but now Macavity had mentioned it, coffee and a single slice of toast before Munkustrap had come downstairs seemed like an age ago and his ears pricked up of their own accord at the suggestion. "I guess we could do that." he tried not to sound overly enthusiastic.

Mac smiled softly and almost affectionately at that. "Well, there's a couple options then. There's the restaurant a floor up, could see if anywhere else in town is open, or there's the penthouse. I haven't cooked in a lon' time though."

Tugger shook his head, it all sounded better than anything he'd have been having at home. Though it could have been the worst food in the world, it was still better than eating alone in the house. "I don't mind Mac, you know I ain't fussy."

Mac nodded, standing. On one paw, he still wanted to show off, but Tugger had looked so damn uncomfortable the other day. "Well, the restaurant is open today, and there are some side rooms and such."

Tugger nodded, he was still somewhat wary, but if he was having to go to his brother's party in a few days, he guessed it couldn't hurt to start getting used to the place, besides, it seemed like coming here more often was the only way he'd keep in regular contact with Macavity anyway, given his refusal to come to the house. "I guess that would be alright." he agreed, "though I ain't exactly dressed f'it." He was wearing a shirt at least, open at the collar, like he preferred, and unbuttoned partway to accommodate for his mane, he looked presentable, but not smart.
