Mac glanced between the two of them as well. "Yeah, should fit, but being sure wouldn't be bad." He almost asked the other cat to stay but it was hard enough dealing with one or the other of the pair.

Tugger ran a heavy paw through his heafur, "I guess a belated thank you is mebbe' in order then... I dunno what t'make of this." he admitted, glancing from Cohen to Macavity. "I hope I didn't interrupt anythin'..."

Mac bit the inside of his lip rather hard. "You didn't interrupt anythin'," he said, a shade too quickly. "And what don't you know what ta make of exactly?"

Tugger scratched his head, further mussing his headfur, "Well, the Doctor here ain't exactly the cat I expected t'run into."

"I was just coming by to let your brother know how thrilled I was with the expense of his latest holiday gift." Doc replied dryly. He glanced at Macavity. "I was going to get a suit on Monday."

"And now you don't have ta," Mac said, his lazy grin returning.

"Regardless. It is the principle of the thing."

"What principle?" Mac asked cheekily.

Tugger recovered himself a little during their conversation. "What a coincidence," he looked meaningfully at his brother, "I'm also here t'talk about an' over extravorgant gift, and mebbe' somethin' about a suit too..."

"Well, then I'll leave you to it. Good day, gentlemen." Doc nodded to them, slipping out.

"I never said you did," Tugger replied, "a suit woulda' bin' a bit easier t'swallow." he looked after Cohen for a moment, "I still don't understand what just happened there." he shook his head, "It ain't that I'm not grateful Mac, but it's too much..."

Mac blinked for a moment, trying to detangle that sentence. "Wait, what don't you understand what happened where? And it wasn't ta much."

"I guess you got different ideas of extravorgant these days Mac, how would you have felt about it, say, six years ago or somethin'?" Tugger asked, he was better at being truthful than he ever would be at pretending he was okay with this. He let his brother's other other question slide for now, he could ask about Cohen later.

Mac leaned back in his chair slightly. "Six years ago I wouldn't have had the money. Now I do. And I wanted ta help."
