Misto paused and sighed. "Well, I should be getting there about the same time as you then," he said. "Since I have that class as well."

Tugger was panting profusely as he arrived back on the school playing field, gold and black fur shining with beads of sweat. His build suggested he ought to be good at cross country, however, the long summer had left him out of practice and he was much nearer the back of the group than he wanted to be.
However, Tugger was feeling oddly satisfied; sport was one of the few things he actually enjoyed in school, relishing not having to think or concentrate on anything more than the task at hand. His legs and lungs were protesting somewhat, but despited the uncomfortable heat and aches Tugger was mentally quite relaxed.
Checking the he had been registered as having returned (Despite his usual enjoyment of sport, Tugger had been known to slope off during runs on occasions.) Tugger slowed to a walk, doing a lap of the playing field to make sure his legs wern't about to sieze up. He Glanced about him as he did so, to see which of his classmates had made it back so far.

Mistoffelees looped back into the field shortly therefore. He was much more of a sprinter, so running longer distances was always a problem for him. Especially at the beginning of the year, but at least they had been kind enough to their students to only have them run a mile cold, rather than two or three.
He glanced around, noticing that he was back in before half the class, and at a rather average sort of position. Oh well. At least it was running and not football, so no balls would be thrown toward his head. He noticed Tugger, his science partner and nodded at him.

Tugger was mildly surprised so see Mistoffelees back so soon, he hadn't looked to be much of a long distance runner. Then again, Tugger reminded himself, he'd normally have made much better time himself. Having said that, he'd still made it before Misto, which was satisfying after finding out about the other tom's prowess in the classroom yesterday. A competetive streak was the other reason Tugger enjoyed sports. He stopped for a moment, leaning up against a wall to stretch out a twinge in his hamstring and glancing back at Mistoffelees again to see what physical state the other was in.

It wasn't bad, but he was out of breath and hunting around for water. He figured he should be stretching out as well, but always hated it. Instead, he kept up a decent walk for a bit, still looking for water before thinking of anything else.

Tugger frowned at little at Mistoffelees, noticing the other tom looked rather serverely breathless, before shaking his head and going back to his stretching. He glanced up again though as the other passed close to him. "You okay?"

Misto glanced at the other tom, somewhat surprised. "Fine," he said, taking another breath. "Just give me a minute and I'll be fine."

"Wait til a few classes down the line, they like to step up the distance pretty rapidly." Tugger offered, not exactly words of comfort.

Misto blinked at him and perhaps would have laughed somewhat hysterically if he had had the breath. "Oh, great."

A shrug, "It's not so bad. There are worse classes." Tugger finished stretching and glanced towards the gym, "I'm gonna' go change, I'll see you at lunch."

Misto shook his head slightly. "Not that bad," he muttered under his breath. "Sure." He glanced toward the gym as well, considering. "Yeah," he said, "I should be getting changed too."
