Tugger snorted "An' what the hell else does 'deadweight partner' imply. Since you're so sure I'd be one, ain't much point me showin' up. Then you can get yourself reassigned t'someone who appreciates your 'jokes'."

Misto looked over at the other. "That, that was a joke, I didn't actually say you were going to be a dead weight partner, I... I'm sorry if what I said insulted you though."

"Yeah well, if it was a joke, it ain't funny, leastways, not t'me." a pause, "For the record, I ain't actually plannin' on deckin' you."

"I'll keep my lack of humor in mind then," he said, and then glanced over at the other, blinking slightly. He wasn't entirely sure how to express the fact he was rather glad he didn't run the risk of being hit on the first day of school. "And, well, I'm glad about the not being decked bit." That would have been thrilling to try and explain to Jones.

"Yeah well I get enough of that at home." Tugger muttered, wondering seconds later why on earth he'd mentioned that at all. He didn't even like this tom, then again, maybe that was why he was caring less about what he said.

Misto blinked slowly at the other, trying to process that statement without making a big deal of it. "Ah, yeah," he said finally and figured it was the wrong thing. "Well, if we avoid yelling and physical violence we should be alright then."

A small growl escaped Tugger, not so much aimed at Misto, but the image the other tom's words conjured up made him uneasy. "Mmm." was all he said, before returning to chewing on the pencil. Though his tail had curled around a little, the tip now resting in his lap.

Misto's ears went back at the growl, but he turned his attention back to the front of the classroom as well, his own tail making a break for his leg, wrapping around his left firmly.

Tugger turned his attention to the front of the room, their first assignment was being explained. Not that he paid it much mind, but it was a good enough excuse to ignore the uncomfortable feelings.

Misto was actually trying to pay attention, though he wasn't doing so well, mulling thoughts over in his head about the class and his supposed partner--if the other actually ever showed up that was, which it was looking like he might not.

Tugger picked up his Biology notebook, mostly out of curioisty to see if he'd been given the same assignment last year. He found half a page of brief notes, and scan read them, before tuning back into what the teached was saying, he stopped chewing the pencil, and started writing, just odd bits of information, filling up the gaps in his old notes. Aparrently he'd done this before, Tugger had been halfway through the ninth grade before he'd started dropping classes on a regular basis.

Misto glanced over, noticing the notebook already filled with notes but didn't comment, turning his attention back to the teacher. The class ended, and he couldn't figure out whether to try and talk to the other cat more, or not.

Tugger didn't think much about what he'd been doing. It had been a time passer more than anything, and he was the first one in the room to stop writing and shove his books away the moment the bell rang. He paused before leaving though, catching Mistoffelees by the shoulder. "I suppose you'll be wantin' t'fix a time t'work on this?"

Misto blinked at little rapidly at the paw on his shoulder, before glancing up at the other. "That would be good," he said quietly. "Do you have a particular day or, place even?"

"Not after school," Tugger said, perhaps just a little too quickly, his ears flicking just a little, "lunch or anytime else is fine, but I can't do afterwards."
