Sonya opened his mouth to ask Teazer something before he saw the other torbie cat approaching. Ah, that must be the brother. He took a slight step back but didn't move much more.

Teazer turned sharply at the sound of her brother's voice, "I got stuck on the late shift at work Jer'," she hurried out, "girl who was meant t'take over from me after dinner never showed, there wasn't much t'be done except stay. I woulda' called, but y'said y'were workin' late too." there was a little defiance at the end, something along the lines of 'If you can work late, why can't I?'

Her brother scowled at that. "They ain't got anycat else as c'n take that damn shift?" He shook his head, disliking this whole thing. He glanced at the tom next to his sister. "Who's this?"

Sonya took a step forward, extending his paw to the other tom. "Sonya Vlask," he said softly. "I am pleased to meet you."

Teazer stepped back a little as Sonya introduced himself to her brother, biting down hard on her lower lip, this could be explosive. At least he'd not mentioned he was a cop.

Jerrie eyed him for a long moment, still frowning, but shook the offered paw. "Mungojerrie Wheeler." His tone was stand-offish leaning toward hostile.

Sonya inclined his head, perhaps a little thankful the other had not instantly figured out who he was by the name. "As I said, it is nice to meet you. I have heard good things about you from your sister."

Jerrie's gaze darted to Teazer. "You two talk often then?"

"Uh, sometimes?" he offered, realizing perhaps that had not been the best thing to say.

"He's a customer at the cafe." Teazer explained, silently begging her brother not to do anything rash, "Didn't want me walkin' home by myself either." she hoped this would make Jerrie see he and Sonya were on the same side here.

The torbie tom's expression still didn't clear. "That's awful nice a him." His tone seemed to put lie to his words. He sized Sonya up. "What d'ya do when you ain't at the cafe?"

Sonya paused for a long moment. He could hardly lie about it now could he? "I work at the police station," he said finally.

Teazer's ears flattened back at Sonya's words, Cat was the fat ever in the fire now.

Jerrie's jaw clenched at that. "Oh, how nice. It's gettin' cold out 'ere, Teaze. It's time we was 'eaded inside."

Sonya narrowed his eyes slightly at the other tom before turning to Teazer. "Well," he said. "Good night then. I hope you have a pleasant remainder of the evening," he shot Jerrie another glance.
