Sonya was tempted to slam his head into the table. "Yes please," he muttered, still eying Teazer. What was wrong? Maybe it was his job, but he hated not knowing what was going on.

The waitress poured the coffee, not missing Sonya's glance in Teazer's direction. "I expect our manager reminded her that she's here t'serve customers, not talk t'them. He doesn't mind a bit of chat or banter, 'specially when it's quiet, but this is one of our busiest times of the day sir, we’ve got no time t'stand idle and talk. That's why there's two of us on duty," she looked at him a pointedly, "too much work for one girl alone." clearly she shared the manager's view, though she gave Sonya a falsely sweet smile as she finished filling his cup, "I'm sure you understand sir. Can I get you anything else?"

Sonya blinked at her and nodded. It was good that he managed not to growl. "Yes, of course." He glanced down at the coffee. He should eat. It would be better for him if he did. He asked if he could get the same soup he had the other time he had been there and sighed a little, sipping at the coffee.

The other waitress nodded, scribbling on her pad before dissapearing to take other orders.
It would be a longer wait on the soup than Sonya had the previous time he ordered it, on account of the cafe being busier. The waitress who had taken the order, took them from all the tables first before running them back to the kitchen. Then she went back to pouring coffee and cleaning tables, leaving Teazer to stay occupied taking plates from the kitchen to customers.

Sonya leaned back, feeling annoyed. It probably was not the other waitresses fault, or even their bosses but damnit.

However, it was Teazer who did finally bring Sonya's soup over. She gave him a wan smile as she put it in front of him, though glanced over her shoulder, fearing her manager watching from the kitchen doorway. "Sorry that took so long, we got kinda' busy."

"More than understandable," he said. "Sorry for getting you into trouble." He glanced at the soup in front of him and then back up at her, offering a smile of his own. "Can I get more coffee as well then?"

Teazer shrugged, glancing over her shoulder again, "It ain't your fault, I shoulda' known better." she gave him another smile though, "Sure, I'll go grab the pot." She hurried off to the kitchen again.

"Thank you," he murmured as she left. Well, at least they were talking again, without looking like either of them were about to turn tail and run from the awkwardness.

Teazer returned shortly, she was silent at first as she poured the coffee, biting her lip again. Another glance over her shoulder when the cup was filled though and she stood there twisting her pearls in her free hand. "This, uh, tell me if I'm out of order here, but I should get off in around twenty minutes, I was wonderin' if you might wanna wait f'me? Since I can't chat at work when we're busy..."

He smiled at her. "Twenty minutes is hardly anything. I would not mind waiting." Pausing, his smile verged somewhat more toward a grin. "After all, if there was coffee, I could stay here for hours anyway."

Teazer smiled at that, her cheeks flushing just a little, "Thanks, I guess I'll come find you when I get off then..." she turned to move on to the next table, failing to notice her manager glaring from the kitchen doorway.

Sonya smiled at her again as she left, and he did notice the manager. He arched a brow at the man, perhaps a little arrogantly, but the man was a jerk anyway. Turning away quickly enough, he returned to the soup and coffee, letting them both warm him a little.

Twenty minutes later and things had indeed died down somewhat, Teazer delivered what she hoped would be her last order and headed eagerly back to the kitchen. She was gone rather a long time, time enough for the other waitress to also finish up, go in and come back out with coat and bag, before vacating the premises.
When Teazer did emerge from the kitchen, she was still wearing her apron, her expression a mix of worry and frustration, tail and ears drooping somewhat, she made her way over to a vacated table and started wiping it down, she made her way across the room like this, clearing and laying out cutlery for the next customers, she didn't look up much, seeming preoccupied with both work and her own thoughts.

Sonya watched her as she was making her way over, draining the last of his latest cup of coffee. "Are you alright?" he asked when she came more into range. Tonight was just going swimmingly, was it not?
