Mac was just opening his mouth to say something about how it was nothing, or possibly you're welcome when she leaned down. It barely took him a second to realize what was happening, and as soon as he did, he reached up one paw to cup the back of her head, the other resting on her hip.

Unbeknown to his brother, Tugger was in the back room of the speakeasy, up to his elbows in dishwater. He'd come into work today feeling a little less cagey, his conversation with Munkustrap having at least cleared the air a little.
The door between the bar and back room was half open, but Tugger had the radio on, and was too busy singing along to a popular song to really register the sound of voices. Stacking the last glass on the rack, he pulled the plug and shook the water from his paws, grabbing a tea towel to dry them as he went through to the bar, still singing, to see what Griddlebone needed doing next.
"If you knew Susie, like I know Susie, Oh! Oh! Oh! What a girl, She wears long..." Tugger stopped dead at the scene before him, firstly because he'd walking in on something private and then the towell slipped from his hand as he realised just who the other party in all this was.
Tugger was gobsmacked, all he could do was stare at Griddlebone and his brother, even if he'd rather look away.

Mac's ears flickered back at the sound of someone entering the room, pulling back after a moment and freezing completely when he saw his youngest brother standing gobsmacked in the doorway. He looked between Tugger and Griddlebone for a moment, raising one paw, opening his mouth and looking back over at Tugger, finally turning back to Griddlebone. "You could have mentioned he was in the backroom when I came in," he said slowly, turning once more to Tugger. "Hello, Tug."

Griddlebone smoothed her skirt and hair down absently. "I was a little distracted." She replied, glancing toward Tugger.

For a moment, Tugger just gaped, then finally, he managed to get some words together, "When you told me you were spoken for, you mighta' mentioned it was my brother!"

Griddlebone's ears flickered guiltily at that, her paw straying to her necklace. "I...It...It's not really..."

Mac blinked at that, raising a brow. "Unless this conversation took place within the last five minutes, it's certainly news ta me that she's spoken for," he said dryly. "Seriously Tug, hello to you too. I'm sittin' right here, so hard ta say hello?"

Tugger glared slightly at his brother, "Hello Mac," he said deliberately, "we seem to be runnin' into each other a lot around here lately. Least you wern't here to check up on me this time." he was almost flippant in his reply, still reeling from the bizzareness of the situation.

Mac's brow remained raised, the other going to join it. "We certainly do seem ta be doin' that," he said mildly, glancing over at Griddlebone. He was going to have to ask about that "spoken for" thing. He paused, considering what Tugger just said. "Wait, I thought the problem was that I wasn't checkin' up on you? You tellin' me that wasn't it?"

Griddlebone bit her lower lip slightly, glancing from one to the other. She picked up the rag again and set to work on a different table. Great. Just great.

Mac raised his paws, holding them out and then very carefully sat them back on the table, which lasted for all of a moment before he dug in his pocket for his cigarettes and lighter. "I'll try ta keep that distinction in mind," he said dryly, lighting the cigarette. "So now that I'm here and not checkin' up on you, anythin' you need ta say?"

Tugger frowned at Macavity "About what? Milady's allowed to do as she pleases, though I'm afraid I doubt her taste in men."

Mac's eyebrows shot up, his paw stopping midair, the cigarette burning at the end of it. "I... what?" He was a damn good catch, thankee very much.

The queen looked up, indignation sparking in her green eyes, but she kept her mouth shut, she'd have enough to deal with without saying anything more.
